... relaxing day...dinner tonight was at the Polo Grill ( steakhouse) Excellent, again!!
We are headed toward Cape Verde. This is an archipelago in the Atlantic about 500 Kms west of Senegal, Africa. It became part of the Portuguese empire in the late 1400's. The islands are mostly mountainous with the land deeply scarred by erosion. Positioned on the great trade routes between Africa, Europe and the New World the islands became a ...

... because there really wasn't much to see and this was a common complaint by many passengers who bought the shore excursion. Saturday in town was a busy shopping day for the locals and we walked through their fresh produce and fish market. Mindelo looks like it's trying to entice tourism, but it still has a ways to go. ... just starting to get tourists, several cruise ships have been here already this year. Now I didn't see any sort of water sports going on (no jet skis etc) and the beach that was pointed out as being the place to go was empty, the sand is more like rough desert sand rather than soft beach sand. So now I know what you're thinking so what has it got going for it. Walking around is ok although there are a lot of kids wanting money but they go away when you say no, we did take lots ...

Day 7at sea, weather us changing as we head north, it's quite windy today and although the sun is still strong the temperature is much cooler than of late, in the high 70s as opposed to high 80s and far less humid. I'm not going to add any photos today just to see if that's why the blog isn't connecting to Facebook. Today the ships photographers decided to show up on deck to take photos of the shuffle teams. Now how comes they show up today, we have had 6 sea days with fairly calm days ...

I thought I had the day mapped out, shuffle, camera club, round the world lunch, afternoon charity sale, etc. but I got the timings all wrong. I thought the lunch was at 1pm but no 12 noon. This changed everything. To begin with camera club is noon, shuffle starts at 10.15 but if (I know it's a big if) you get through to the finals it often doesn't finish until after 11.30. Now as it's the Captains Lunch you can't turn up dressed any old how, and certainly not straight from ...
