Santalina on Hervey Bay

... It's an overnight stay in what looks like a lovely resort, however we’ve been told not to swim in the sea off the island as there are loads of tiger sharks nor to not pat or run away from the Dingo’s as they will eat you. So with that in mind I am hoping this isn’t the last blog I write and that I will be telling you of my amazing trip Tuesday night. Wish me luck!!

... but only his wife Eliza survived, the local indigenous people the Butchulla knew it as K&#8217;gari which means Paradise.<br><br>This tour gave a good overview of the island, I think a longer stay would have been too long unless you were a keen fisherman or hiker, it is just a pity that the guide was so annoying. <br><br>We got back to the camp site at about 7pm where I packed up as much as possible ready for a quick get away the next day and so to bed.

... dass ich kurzerhand noch einen Tag drangehängt habe um morgen den ganzen Tag per Fahrrad die Stadt bzw. Strand zu erkunden.<br>War Whale Watching und 2 Tage auf Fraser Island. War beides so atemberaubend schön, dass mir einfach doppeldeutige oder sarkastische Worte fehlen. So ein Riesentrum von Buckelwal neben dem Boot auftauchen zu sehen, hat schon was Ehrfurchtsvolles. Wenn dieser Buckelwal dann auch noch weiblich ist ...

... day saved the best for last, which was Lake Mc Kenzie - a lake with crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. <br>It was a fun adventure and at the end of the day I am glad that I did not book the guided tour as it would have been half the fun with getting bogged (sich festfahren) and the whole camping experience with everybody. We celebrated the whole adventure with a BBQ at the hostel the night we came back to Hervey Bay.

Ha, ha after Andrea's successful choice of a hostel for Brissy, I now take the burden on my shoulders and book us into the Koala's backpackers lodge. Hmmm a slightly cheaper stay than the YHA, where we have to actually rent a sheet for $5 and a blanket for $10, which we have to share and it is small, itchy and orange, absolute zero chance of getting a towel here me thinks! Apart from being a drop off point to pick up your Fraser Island tour ...

... forward we finally came out at Kingfisher resort on the western side of the island. Stopped there for a break and and the kids palyed on the playground there and we picked up some supplies from the shop (that seemed cheaper and better stocked than the one near us. ... there the windows were open, providing the girls next door with much entertainment as they called out the names of each person using the toilets and tried to have a conversation with them.
