    ... have to own up we did have to stop the traffic to get round a stupidly tight bend (but when I got out, Liz had it set up just right (there is a pervading view amongst women that towing is Mans Work, but women can do it (like everything else) Therefore we'd say to you, ignore that sign if you even see it, and go through the town (and plead plead ignorance if stopped?)
    After that, the A8 which was toll free for a while and a section of toll which we gladly paid as a blessed ...

    A complete lazy day by the pool today. Joe went to the shops to buy some sunscreen while I chilled listening to music on my iPad. Went up to the room for a mid afternoon snooze then headed out from the hotel at 4.30 to go around the shops. Had a lovely tagliatelle with salmon at a nearby restaurant where we saw a clone of Krystle Carrington from Dynasty, then back to the room by 8.30 for a chilled night ...

    Is what the Chinese-American father/husband said continuously throughout our wine tour in Chianti. He seemed to be having a fabulous time sipping on all different kinds of Chianti wines while his reserved wife had half of one and his thirteen year old son had none. I questioned as to why they would pay the money to come on this tour and not participate but nevertheless, he was a fun time and ready to party. Sarah and I thoroughly enjoyed the all-afternoon tour, costing us 42 Euro, ...

    ... of Monaco than in it. Though we did have a little incident with a big black 4wd BMW on the way home. Still haven't got the hang of the tolls. The car I'm driving is bigger than I have at home and their ticket boxes seem to be a long way away. Also some you get the ticket then pay later at another toll booth then, others you just throw money in a cone and others you insert money or cards, some take notes and some don't. So as you can see all a bit complex and not consistent. So ...

    ... to take a sun umbrella and some beach mats, as the beaches here are mostly pebbly. Jellyfish were a real problem and I had only been swimming some minutes before one got me on my arm…OUCH!!!!! Many others also got stung, and we did not venture too far from the shore after that. Interesting watching the water activity.Lots of small yachts being towed out like little ducks all in a row, and budding Jacque Cousteau’s in the water all decked out in wet suits being taught the skills of scuba ...
