Lower Sigua Falls Redemption Hike

... fall hurt just a bit .. youll see in the video my form wasnt exactly "smooth" haha. So if theres any doubters out there... I HAVE hit puberty as of today! The hike back was a different route but was very similiar to the way there. We encountered a lot of sawgrass, had amazing scenic views of the mountains, and got our fair share of Boonie Mud! copy and paste in your browser to watch..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTJ57wip An8

Advanced Open Water Scuba course

... the day. The wreck dive visited an old American tanker that was sunk to help build up a manmade cliff wall but sunk outside of its proper position. It is really well preserved however my buddy ran low on air fairly quickly so this dive was cut a little short. Our drift dive however was almost 40 minutes and took us down to 70 feet. I spent about 10 minutes playing with a huge 4 foot Moray Eel that we found in a hole ...

Theres always enough time!

... br> After all this we snagged a delicious mahi mahi breakfast at a local joint and headed up to Big Navy, the island's navy base, to go out for a hike. Today was the first day all week that the weather was real nice after the typhoon leaving! Can't let that go to waste in rainy season! We started out by going to Orote Point is the westernmost point in the U.S. and also a very important landmark in both the overtaking of Guam in WWII ...

Tallest Mountain in the world

... shorts .. (I know I know.. Hold the cat calls) and a light Tshirt. Mistake 1! Almost the entire trail was a very undefined trailhead through huge SAWGRASS meadows. At one point we almost had to low crawl b/c the sawgrass was cutting up our legs so badly. Its like a million tiny little sharp postit notes giving you quick papercuts. Joe happened to have some pants and a long sleeve jacket which will be my next investment along with a machete... and ...

Marbo Caves

... earpopping. We explored around and found several underground tunnels that led to other wider lakes that look like they had been untouched for years. We weren't the only ones who had the same bright idea, several crabs and tree snakes sought refuge in there as well. We ran across an eel at one point too! Don't really know how that sucker got in there.

Is diving supposed to be fun ???

... the diving shop gave us 7 POUNDS not 7 KILOS. Our fault (we should know be able to feel the difference) but also his: he should know better. And why do I breathe so difficultly? Sure, we are both struggling, which is stressful, trying to stay down is hard work and there is current but still, ... . I forget about my own problems since I see Dr T has more. And yes, I forgot to mention: it is the first dive with our new camera ...

R & R in Guam

... let us know today, we are leaving to check out the Days Inn hotel.' We DO move to the next room, with all the kitchen utilities I gathered and washed. And indeed go to the Days Inn, American style motel... We step in. Dr T: 'Hi, can we see a room?' 2 receptionists STARE at us and at each other. The way people would stare if you entered a restaurant and asked for the last model BMW. T repeats: 'We would like to see a room.' Answer: 'Which ...

The Chamorran meal fit for a king

... later, my stomach obliged yet again. I have fond memories of walking through Greenwich Village in NYC with a cup of CSC's Cake Batter ice cream (it tastes EXACTLY like cake batter) with my Butterfinger mix-ins. Let's suffice it to say that my lack of regular access to a Cold Stone Creamery is the reason why I'm not 300 pounds. We decided on a sundae to share, but which one? We let the Janken gods decide our fate - Peter was rock, scissors, papering ...

Our night out at Fish Eye

... shrimp, grilled steak, rice dumplings, and a variety of fish preparations. There is a dessert popular with the Japanese tourists that (unfortunately) looks just like a cup of chocolate sauce. It is actually a coffee gelatin or Jello, strong-flavored like expresso. I love coffee, but jiggly java is not my idea of an after dinner treat. There were even little containers of creamer to pour on it. I did give it ...

Guam: Hawaii for Beginners

... realizing it until Chris came into the room (after finishing duty turnover on the ship). I decided it wasn't that bad to miss the tour when, a few hours later, we were lounging around looking out on crystal blue waters and drinking Coronas with the breeze in our faces. This was after we had a great hotel brunch (allllll you can eat!) and then bought some exorbitantly-priced sandals and suntan lotion in the hotel lobby, but at least I didn't get too burned by the near ...
