... having a beer and watching a man try to dig his van out of the snow. To my knowledge his van is to this moment where it was when I left the bar.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to post some pictures of Canillo when it's snowy and the sun comes out. Don't have too many, but figured it was worth a post.

Canillo, Andorra sirsmonkey42... at 7:30am. However upon arriving at l'Hospitalet all my fears were put to rest.

It's misleading that they call l'Hospitalet a train station, it would be more correct if they called it a gravel lot with vending machines. As I filed into the line to get off the train, eager to find the bus, I grew frustrated that the line wasn't moving faster. When my turn finally came to get off the train I noticed that the line continued straight from the train to ...

Tarascon-sur-Ariège, Midi-Pyrénées, France marianmFound out today that the 90 day tourist visa that I thought we were granted for each country is actually for the combined Senchgen countries. Since we'll be at least 60 days in France alone, it means we won't be doing the France, Italy, Greece and then Turkey route we had planned on in the length of time we'd ...
Boussenac, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totango... there will be no more of those stories, but here are a few of ours from our time here.

Lots of stories. Browse a little. Read the titles to see what tickles your fancy. Hope you enjoy a few.

Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire

One of the things that has amazed me most is the abundance of food that can be grown here. Nut trees have been a curious scene on the horizon for me. Acorns pelting us while we camp and conchs ...
Boussenac, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totangoA gory day full of raw meat, but surprisingly it didn’t bother me. Some issues that have arisen when discussing the idea of setting up our own small holding with the attempt to be as self-sufficient as possible was whether or not we could deal with it. So far it doesn’t seem to be a problem.

We’ve stayed a few extra days at this farm with the anticipation of butchering day. Took 2 pigs to the abattoir ...
Boussenac, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totango... than anything else. However, for a first time climber this is often the most difficult. The death grip mush come off the rock and weight comes off your feet. Floating on air! You push aside thoughts of whether or not the rope will hold and begin to descend.

Actually, I found the job of belaying much more difficult than that of climbing. Not only ******* the arms hauling the rope around and holding it securely, was the knowledge that ...
Tarascon-sur-Ariège, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totangoA side trip with the truck enabled us to get to areas we couldn’t normally access. Not that we would even attempt it on bicycles - vehicles are bad enough. Windy roads where motion sickness is a given, ‘oh ****’ handles are coming loose from repetitive strain, and a straight section of road lasts about 20m.

Our goal was a little damned in lake almost on the ...
Marc, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totango... the skiing was really good - our passes covered Arinsal, Pal and Arcalis so there were enough runs to keep us occupied for the week. It was a half hour bus ride to Arcalis, but the skiing over there was really good. On the week days the slopes were really empty - we had some runs to ourselves and we never queued for a ski-lift which was amazing :o) We left again at 5.30am on Sunday.........and I arrived home at 4pm......nicely exhausted :o)
Arinsal, Andorra cat2222... but we had decided to freecamp around near one of the ski fields. We parked up and had a look around town, went to a camera store and realised I had paid a little to much for our underwater camera. Such is life. We had paid £100 less than London, so I was not to perturbed. We made our way to the skifields, and found a nice spot and set up and cooked and drunk beers and sangria, including the con gas. Once morning came, we were all bursting ...
