... lovely dinner and bottle of Merlot. Home by 9:30, and time to catch up on emails and blogs. 28 December 2014 It's grey outside this morning, but the sun is breaking through occasionally. ... Again the people here are very friendly, in the main, and quite helpful. There are people everywhere looking at maps trying to discern the next bridge to cross, the next path to follow, and many seem happy to share suggestions on how to get, in our case, home – the Hotel Scandinavian.

We did get home and are quite tired after quite a long day, travelling from the west side of Italy to the east. Looking forward now to a good night’s sleep.

... Europe with her sister, and this week also with her sister's friend. I had so much fun with them. They arrived a day before I did so they already knew the tips and tricks of the city.

... the inside Velcro pockets. I had just taken 500 Euro out of the bank but had put my wallet away securely! We had time to call Visa, etc. to cancel his cards and had to report it to the local police who were sympathetic but shrugged and told him to lock up his passports and be more careful!. This unfortunate incident won't spoil the experience for us, just a lesson learned! We are on the train now steaming to Firenze to transfer o our little old Lucca train ...
