The next day's drive back towards karaoke, fast food and road markings took us up and over the 1955m Tsurugi-san mountain. The trees becoming more autumnal and colourful the smaller and more winding the road became. The vine bridges (now subtly reinforced with wrought iron) provided us with a chance to stop for lunch and pay exhorbitantly for car parking whilst fearful Japanese tiptoed their careful way across.

The next day it was time to deal with the other major problem - where to buy food!! This campsite had no shops or restaurants nearby, and we had very little money anyway. We asked the owner of the campsite and he told us that there was a little post office about twenty minutes walk away, and there was a little shop there too.

After leaving Temple 11 we walked back to the train station (actually a helpful woman saw us lost and gave us a lift in her car, and also a packet of sweets!) We took a slow local train and a couple of hours later we arrived in the Oboke gorge, in central Shikoku. On arrival we looked around for a local bus, but whilst we were doing that we met an American who was heading the same way so we shared a taxi.
