    ... All sorts of dignitaries and reporters were on hand for the unveiling.

    There were all sorts of artefacts and curios from the past 160 years, including the helmet shaped decorations that used to adorn the opening of a tunnel.

    We had 3 hours at the museum, 2 of which was to look around and another hour for lunch. That was probably more than enough time for me.

    Final preps done and just relaxing today. Marc giving his last seminar. They are giving us a goodbye party this evening and heading home tomorrow. What a summer it has been and life changing too.     ... so very nice of him and we tried one before dinner and it was very good. Later our host dropped of two speciality single cakes and two fruit bars from the shop her daughter works.     ... So whilst my relationship with Japan has yielded many things for me I do not see myself living here long-term again in the near future. Liiiiitle bit of irony in there, but the realisation has been a long time coming! I'd just prefer to work within Aussie culture. And that's cool too.

    I'm sure I just think about all this cultural identity stuff way more than your average person, but I truly believe it is at the core of everything we experience. And how amazing is that?!
