So here we are in Galle ( pronounced Gawl) but Muslims say ( Gallay) and Tamils say ( Gallee) so all very open to interpretation.

... br> First impressions of Sri Lanka is that everyone is really friendly and they are always smiling but it is a very poor country.
When we arrive at the hotel we are greeted with a melon juice, yummy, our room is functional, has air conditioning and a fridge and you can walk right onto the beach from the hotel, always a bonus.

... but after reading mixed reviews, the high cost and the long boat ride we decide against it. The next two days we explore the neighbouring beaches on a moped. Our first trip is up to hikkaduwa, the original hippy hang out. The beach is large stretch of golden sands and although restaurants line the shore they are set far back enough for plenty of space to lounge and explore the beach. Mirissa, day two. Breakfast time. According to what I was told when I arrived to this place, although I sleep in the guest house no 2, I eat in the main one. Walking there in the daylight was like walk in the park. Maybe because it actually was a walk in the park. And not even a long one. 5 minutes tops.
