More beached and the bounced back to Dubai

After Khor Fakkan we headed up another 8km up to a place called Badiyah and stayed at the Sandy Beach Motel, this time actually on the beach. We spent most of our time snorkelling and swimming. At one time Lyall claimed he got stung by a jelly, but I told him he was being a "pussy". After disregarding his childish cries I was floating around in the water and I got one round the neck and on the wrist and hand. I quickly jumped up hopping round the water like an idiot we lyall absoultly ******...

... it back towards him and he asked what I was doing. I told him, "I am not your trashcan." He said the "help" would pick it up and he doesn't "look at rubbish." He then pushed his half eaten sandwich and wrappers back over to my feet and I reached down, picked it up and dumped it on his tray table. He told me I didn't know my manners and to respect those with "status." What status? Please...I am all ears...

I won that battle by the way. Score one for ...

... very scenic rock formations to the city of Fujairah.I remained in the bus as it continued its way to the enclave of Khor Fakkan that is actually a Sharjah owned territory on the eastcoast. 6 emirates in one day, and happy to be back in Dubai for the night!

... with original materials, and the views over the mountains, in that dying day, were a serene beauty. We all wanted to stay there and wondere why we had not come here camping. A valley crossroad, an oasis, a bit of life, surrounded by dry, harsh, hot rocks. A place for humans to settle and take the moment in. Back in Dubai and the same tranquility experience, this time in a brand new classy, artsy hotel where the immense terrace was all ours by the polo field. Strange.

Arrival Dubai & Fujairah

... of giving me an ice cold wet towel in the car, good service. Then 90 mins drive to the hotel. Good roads, so many speed cameras. And the cars start beeping when going faster then 120 km/h. Strange but effective, because extremely annoying after a short while. Hotel arrival was nice, need to get used to this level service, just doesn't exist in Europe and for sure not in the UK.

Tales From The Sand Box - Episode 3

... This is a rather tight little bit of water about sixty miles long which separates Oman and Iran. Both of these countries have a rather proprietary attitude towards this stretch of water as it is the only way into the Persian Gulf. Therefore 90% of the worlds oil must pass through here. As you can imagine neither country is willing to try and enforce their claims on this waterway because the international community would fall on them from a great height. Back in the 80's ...

... my camera battery and charger in the hotel room in Fujairah. Smart On the way back I stopped in Masafi to buy a few more fruits. These road markets sell the fruit, vegetables, fish and meat, from the local agriculture you would think. Well maybe partly. But all these perfectly ripe fruits come actually from other countries, and even the dates were from Tunisia! The peninsula is a maritime and air hub between the Middle-East, Asia, and Africa. That is actually, its history.

It's A Cultural Thing!

... why) but somehow they ended up scoring 12 free tickets. So Thursday night I went to the show, it was alright, definitely happy I didn't pay $30 for it. It was like a ballet meets Middle East meets a lot of cool effects. Only problem was the effects got old fast, and the story was REALLY cliche. So while doing some reading on the Emirates last week I saw that Fujairah (a small Emirate that borders Oman and the Indian Ocean) apparently held Public Lashings for criminals at the center of the ...

... but we were able to look round and sample the beach and facilities before getting our room. A touch of luxury for me though very much a bubble. Amy and I tried to walk along the beach towards Snoopy rock but the public beach had lots of men on them just sitting, so felt awkward and returned to our bubble, not particularly comfortable with that. Had a great meal in the evening though, overlooking the beach and lit up pool, so great ambience, company and price!!

Dubai - Day 8

... he returns with some bottles of water for all of us. What a champion! To our disappointment though (2 disappointments in 2mins), it's sparkling water. Doh! As it isn't real water, we jump back into the car, fire up the air con and make our way towards our final destination. The journey takes us through some very nice scenery, from the coast, through the mountain and onto dirt tracks. If we had a 4WD, we could drive along the dried up river bed, but as it turns out, we're ...
