Laura had run back into the hotel just as he arrived, so we loaded 7 into the van and made to wait for Laura. He kept counting 8 and trying to shut the door, so it was a struggle to make him wait. Fortunately, Laura was quick, and soon we were ...

... br> Well, I say it was relief but actually, I was rather confused. ‘A bear?!’ I’d read in one of the many tourist leaflets floating around that bears were still prevalent in the wild in some of the Slovenian National Parks. I decided I had misheard her, particularly when we parked our horses up in a shadowy copse and then wandered over to a bar. At this point, I did think I had completely misunderstood and we were instead having a mid-morning beer, not bear.
