Now we didn't spend enough time here to see all aspects of the culture, and I'm sure there is a darker side somewhere, and yes there is a multi class system but even the lowly paid labourers, mostly Indians and Pakistanis, didn't seem particularly unhappy. After a brief moment of terror in the middle of the night where an alarm went off and scared the **** out of us, we had a fairly uneventful few hours’ sleep before we had to be up at 3am. We blearily got ready to a strange Irish-language kids’ TV show and left the hotel just before 5am. I was pretty dismayed to discover that I’d been blessed with a headache and toothache on top of my chronic earache, just before flying literally ...
