... B for one last day skiing before flying out on the Sunday evening. My parents had left early the Sunday morning Kaz time and I knew from flight tracking websites that they would be arriving nearly 90 minutes late. This was not the news I wanted to hear considering that their arrival was 3:30am Kaz time and we would still need to get to the hotel. Thankfully, there is the new arrivals lounge in Abu Dhabi so I had a comfortable place to wait the 5 hours ...

Landed safely in JFK at 8:45, took the subway to an Indian restaurant in Jackson Heights for lunch at 11:30am, and caught a 1:15 flight home from LGA. (Kudos to Delta for getting me on an early ...

... cubicle to use - the first cubicle seemed to be off limits - both times I used this toilet block, other women and myself were directed to not use the first cubicle even though it was vacant. Interesting. My flight has been delayed 25 minutes. More time for people watching. Haven't been able to find a comfy spot for a snooze yet. Haven't found the seats I thought I saw when we first arrived - with foot ...

      ... with white paint obviously.

Since we're on the subject of Emirati fashion expect red and white checkered cloths as head gear (a 'guthra'), bound by black rope. All in all, very modest wear compared to the Hawaiian shorts and wifebeater vests donned by every Western travello (coined term for 'male traveller'). It was quite daunting as an 18 year old ...
