A Little bit of North Africa

... largest and most spectacular, of Morocco. We headed north to Rabat, Fes, Meknes, Erfoud, Ouarzazate (where Hillary was visiting at the time), and Marrakesh. Fes and Marrakesh were probably our favorite cities. The old medina of Fes, with over 13,000 alleyways, was intriguing. We didn't get lost here because we opted on a guided tour (thank God!). One of my favorite sites was visiting the tannery although the smells were not ...

Tips and Thoughts for future Travelers

... br>° Acting is a part of the negotiations; you’ll get the hang of it quickly!

° Don’t start haggling on items you don’t really want

Pork: Pigs are considered unclean animals according to the Quran and Muslims don’t eat it. Therefore you won’t find any served in the restaurants or in the supermarkets.

Alcohol: Tunisia is a Muslim country, a religion that dissuades alcohol consumption ...

Haggling in Tunisia

It's funny to haggle with the Tunisians in their markets, but Tunis disappointed me a little... it's dirty, have an strange smell like a mixture of spices and sweat... there just a few places to visit and they are so careless with their highlights... but after that we visited Sidi Busaid, I recommend this place instead of Tunis because of his streets and views

Yet another $2 travel adventure

... ruins are some crumbling foundations with killer views of the Mediterranean. The ruins are located throughout the town and are completely surrounded with white homes with you guessed it, blue trim. What little I know about Roman history graduated from my brain long ago when I did the same from college so it was hard for me to fill in the blanks around the ruins. There was no sea breeze today so I just sweated my way around from site to site ...

Day 1 Tunis

... most everywhere. Men hold hands with men, women hold hands with women...but rarely would you see a man holding a woman's hand in public...it is strictly a cultural carryover from colonial times. The French influence is everywhere in buildings, in language (most Tunisians speak Arabic first, French second and English third) and in food. Croissants, yogurt and coffee are the typical breakfast. Our adventure begins in earnest tomorrow!

El-Jem and Sida Bou Said

... The view of the ocean is spectacular and the town and houses are so picturesque. I love the white houses and blue painted iron fencing and blue doors and windows. My camera ran out of batteries so I couldn't take many pictures, so I think I'll head back tomorrow since I don't have anything else planned. There doesn't seem to be ...

Resort break in Tunis

... control is just as cutthroat as New Jersey traffic during rush hour. Once out of the airport, Tunisia has been fantastic. It is extremely modern, clean, and the beach is beautiful. And when we got to our hotel last night, even though it was really late (1am), I had an American festival. I ordered food from room service and watched a ****** circa 1970 Clint Eastwood/Jeff Bridges movie with Arabic subtitles - IN ENGLISH!! No kidding - it was the BEST!!!
