... had all sorts of toppings. Basically we are eating our way around Tasmania.. From there we took the back roads to Launceston up and down valleys and through picturesque farmlands. I was surprised how sunburnt and brown it all looked so they can't have had much rain over Summer. The sheep and cattle seem to be surviving alright, but it must be tough going for the farmers. We had lunch at a one horse county town and got into town late afternoon.

A Beautiful Walk

We went to Mt. Field National Park today. Like the other national parks in this state, there are numerous walks that can be done ranging from 10 minutes to multiple days. Mt. Field is in the south of Tassie and we had to get back to Launceston in the north later today so we couldn't do a day walk. We chose a 2.5 hour walk.

... salad and chips and I never left a speck on my plate. The others were the same, all very yummy and a very nice guy who ran the place.
Next we headed back to Beaconsfield where we stopped off at the old mine and had a look around at the remaining buildings and the Heritage Centre. We imagined how cold it must have been for the miners in winter as we were standing there shivering in the cold wind.

... Taya loves the playground today, sitting playing with a big abacus, and happily swinging for ages. Dylan learns two lessons. The first - if children have long hair it doesn't mean they are girls. The second - just because somebody else did it it doesn't mean that it's allowed. The boys (who looked like girls) climbed up onto the top of the train roof when the sign clearly said not to. ... and so is determined to show me the real England! I have visited London and York but that was 24 years ago, so I am really looking forward to re-visiting.
Greece is new for me and Athens and Santorini both sound wonderful. Janette has been to Athens and loved it, so bring it on for us both.
