... Alum Cliffs, a spectacular overlook of a gorge and river and cliffs, where we had a late picnic lunch. We came back to our inn for some R&R, and then went out to explore the city a bit more and sample Tasmanian beer, a source of pride for the people here. Launceston and Hobart, the two biggest cities in Tasmania, have rival breweries, and we are taking it upon ourselves to judge the varieties for ourselves.

St Columbia Falls – A lovely granny volunteer at the Derby Info Centre recommended this one and we were glad we took her advice. We think our pictures show how beautiful it is. The walk in to reach it was through thick rainforest, which was also lovely. ... is home to the famous honey supplier and Mole Creek is known for its caves. The Alum Cliffs are on the way and they too were worth seeing. We enjoyed a great lunch at the Deloraine Hotel and after sampling the local steaks we decided to stock up at the local butchery, and we have not been disappointed.
