... and her kids as much as possible...it really feels nice to live close to Lucy, something that i am almost used to now but definitely still appreciating.

Then ive been to Devonport a few times, the 3rd largest city in tassie (maybe 25000 peeps). Its on the north coast and harbours the huge ferry, Spirit of Tasmania, which brings peeps and vehicles from/to the mainland, Melbourne, an overnight journey. I had to ...

Launceston

Mum Drove us to Launceston. It was an easy drive as we shot from the NW to the N, although she never quite made it. Mum gave up 35km before Launceston and Davo had to get us into the centre! They both walked around a market while I sorted some internetting and accomodation bookjing out and bought some nice food to cook a meal this evening. Launceston is lovely and it was a lovely unny day, the people in Tas are so friendly - it really is a great place.

Launceston (and Mole Creek!)

Our next stop in Tasmania was Launceston. On the drive there, we stopped off in Sheffield, the town of murals, so-called, funnily enough, because the locals had taken to painting huge pictures and landscapes on the walls of buildings in order to make the place more appealing to tourists. We also diverted to Mole Creek to visit the Trowunna Wildlife Park. For about 6GBP, we got to see kangaroos ...

... slide across cables hung between trees up to 90 feet tall! You travel from "cloud station" to "cloud station" getting an eagles'-eye view. It's basically like traveling on a ski lift except you're alone on a kind of swing. Amazingly, I never saw my life flash before my eyes. It was actually pretty relaxing. The guides do a good job of making you feel comfortable and they let you practice sliding on the ...

Don't Pay the Ferryman

Although the option to take a ferry to Tasmania exists, I chose to fly. Same price, two hour flight. The ferry takes all night and because it is dark, the scenery is limited. I arrived to a lovely home. A couple I had met weeks ago on Fraser Island invited me to stay with them if I visited Tas. I'm so lucky to have met them and spent two nights in their home in Hobart. Peter teaches at the local college and is acting vice-principal this year ...

... to my hostel I got talking to a guy from Wagga Wagga (Just North of Melbourne), I had cooked too much stir fry so shared that with him and also some wine - we sat in the garden all night putting the world to rights. It was great to have a conversation that had meaning for a change rather than just idle chit chat. Sunday started rather grey and wet, but I manged to get two museums in and also a visit to Captain cooks cottage - shipped brick by brick ...

... for people who have cars without power-steering. I feel your pain. Other than that the car is fantastic & I want to take it home with me. Its costing $85 a day, which is about 20quid each, and the excess is $2500 if we crash. THAT'S AT LEAST 3x THE VALUE OF THE CAR!!! So, were going to drive very carefully!!! Found a supermarket, and, as part of our healthy-week decided to make our own food (also because the car is costing us so much ...
