Help, I'm suffering from majestic mountain view overload! Coming through the rocky mountains yesterday, the weather was perfect. Sunny, blue skies, a few fluffy white clouds here and there. We did a short trip to Harrison Hot Springs, north east of Chilliwack, to start off the day, and had a great breakfast sandwich only steps away from the indoor hot springs and the beach that I remembered from childhood days. The ...
Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada robsargeantToday drove through lots more mountains, stopped to see the Spiral Tunnels in the mountain, then as luck would have it, a train came through, so that was very interesting to see. Went to the Northern Lights Wolf Refuge and saw wolves which we hadn't seen in the wild. They also did a very good educational talk and display about the importance of wolves in the cycle of things and we also ...
Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada robynanddavidToday we set out to see Mount Revelstoke National Park. We headed to Meadows in the Sky Parkway. This scenic road travels 26 km to within 1 km (about 5/8 of a mile) of the summit of Mount Revelstoke. The ranger staffing the entrance gate to the parkway alerted us to the wildflowers blooming alongside the roadway. He also told us that we would have to walk the last 1 km to the summit parking area, as ...
Mount Revelstoke National Park of Canada, British Columbia, Canada 2jgstlWe left Kootenay National Park / Radium Hot Springs this morning, headed toward Glacier National Park and Mount Revelstoke National Park. We traveled north on Highway 95, then west on Trans Canada 1, which goes through both parks. Our destination for the day was Canyon Hot Springs Resort and RV Park, halfway between the two national parks.
We have enjoyed spectacular snow and glacier capped mountain scenery since ...
So it's warm, very warm and I can see loads of snow on top of the mountains. Crazy.
These are the Columbia Mountains, between the Cascade Mountains to the West and the Rocky Mountains to the east, so called because the mighty Columbia river flows through them right down south and through the USA.
I spent last night in Shushwap lake, an absolute monster spanning at least 100km I recon ...
... juice containers and kids'band aidss wash up onto the shore after such a clean and fresh swim hours previously? And the invasion of pineBeatless! Which, if you haven't heard, is turning lush green mountain sides to auburn and purple deadness. What are we to do? - in a province that calls itself 'the best place on Earth', where I could take a full album worth of rainbow photos, and can cry for thedegradationn.
Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada lolly... it really filled up soon after we parked. When we're doing an overnight-only stop like this, we try to get a "pull-through" site, which means we don't have to take the car off of the dolly, we just drive in and set up for the short stay. In the morning, we just drive out of the park after a quick breakfast, because we're all hooked up and ready to go!

On the way down we decided try some extreme sports, so Chris did some 'extreme steering' and Kelly did some 'extreme holding'. When in Rome..... More pics above of Whistler. Ok, so after 3 great days we have a 12 hour journey to Banff. We didn't quite realize just how amazing ...
