... expensive thing is the flight. Our hotel was only $59 per night in U.S. currency (about $120 per night in Fijian) and it was a pretty nice hotel. All in all, Fiji was probably one of my favorite trips ever... and I was mainly working while there! It's a great experience to give out care to people in need and to see "real Fiji" and not the tourist areas, but next time I'd like to spend some time exploring more of the island! :)

Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji erinandpaul07... wooden turtles that are well known in Fiji... they meant good luck and prosperity. I also got my brother a war hammer, that symbolizes being brave and a cannibal fork (got one for myself too). I also found a Fijian black pearl, that you can only get here... it's really pretty! In the evening the whole group went on a Captain Cook Dinner Cruise. They played Fijian music and sang for us. We ...

I just couldn't. “He took the medication twice and got the disease both times?” I repeated. “Then he is both the unluckiest person on the planet and, as he has survived a disease that kills over a million people a year twice, the luckiest person on the planet. Or he just made this all up. Or you're just making this up to prove your point.” I didn't say the last bit ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji dantheeducator... We will leave you to decide!

Here we spent our time relaxing in a hammock, reading yet another 4 books and escaping the rain. We made jewellery with the locals by weaving vine leaves and got chatting to more people from all over the world! At Waya Lailai we were treated to traditional Fijian dances, fire dances and the friendliest islanders we had yet encountered. It was however strange when we saw the 10 foot satelite dish beaming Sky Sports into the bar! <br ...
Fiji, Fiji robeckie... in some games to try and win some free drinks, but we were too drunk already and resultantly we were not successful!

Now perhaps it was the vodka at sunset, or maybe it was the cocktails or the jugs of beer, or all of the above? Whatever it was - we got really drunk! We made friends with lots of people, we talked a load of rubbish to them, and then it transpires that Luke went to bed without telling me. After a while I went to go and ...

Nadi, Western, Fiji mirja... use up. The next morning we went for a nice walk up Mount Iron, with me and Rob finishing a good 20 minutes before Ben did, being the athletes that we are. Once again the views were spectacular. We then headed to Wanaka's alternative tourist attraction; Puzzling World. This was a collection of strange exhibits which are meant to confuse you. This includes a room which is at such an angle that a ball looks like it's rolling up hill, when in fact it is going down hill ...
Fiji, Fiji jonathanbug... when it became too hot to slide into the lukewarm, clear and still waters....like a big swimming pool! The resort we stayed at was right beside a little village, with a school right outside our room. It was lovely in the evenings when there was a church service, you could hear the beautiful singing of the Fiji people while sitting in the hammock outside our room. So when we weren't simply chilling by the sea, we actually did use up some ...
Fiji, Fiji dixieannie... also donated a few bucks which helped out conscious also). We saw some people playing a human size chess game...thought that was cool. J Then, we shopped for souvenirs and ate dinner and went to our hotel. So, if you're ever in New Zealand...you can afford to miss Christchurch. Although, to be fair, we figured part of our lack of enthusiasm of Christchurch is because we were ready for Fiji ...To relax and do nothing for 7 days! We flew out of ...
Mololo Island, Fiji catbrand... a man with a great deep voice (We were surprised at the number of deep voices in Fiji men. It was like being in a nation of James Earl Jones's.). The kids sang several songs accompanied by much clapping, stomping, and wriggling, ending with a lunge toward us with lots of laughter and giggles. After the entertainment, we had a little time for questions of both the teacher and the kids. The children are pretty much taught in a trilingual curriculum. They have their ...
