Why am I updating today? A month today I leave for England, sometime in the afternoon and arrive on the 19th (according to local time). It seemed fitting to write an entry today of all times and to of course wish all of you a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, good food and cheer, remembering why we celebrate at this time of year.

... absolutely delicious! She kept warning us that it was full of butter but we couldn't resist that second piece. In addition we got to taste our first piece of fruitbread for the season. It's really too bad that today's generation has set 'christmas cake' aside for lighter treats! I miss the annual treat.

Conversation rolled as we talked and before we knew it the sun was setting. A wonderful day!

... message to friends allowed us to organize breakfast at MacDonalds tomorrow morning - an unexpected bonus of our change of plans.

All in all it was a long day of travel but from here on we can relax a bit knowing that we are not facing the possibility of snow in the mountains over the next couple of days. The flip side is that we had great views of the mountains with the early shading of snow. A good day of travel.

Well Kelowna is a very touristy destination. It has a beautiful lake (Okanagan) that is surrounded on one side with apartments and hotels with their own boat moorings up to the balconies. Lots of boating activities - skiing, etc. Not really our scene, but they did have ducks! ...
