... evening’s destination – Monte Vista – we crossed the legendary Rio Grande. To be honest it is not too ‘grande’ at this point in its journey to the Gulf of Mexico, but it is still the Rio Grande and it is still the Rocky Mountains high, and it is wonderful to be here. And in a nod to the Rio Grande’s ultimate route along the Mexican border we have just enjoyed our first Mexican meal of the trip. And very good it was too.

It was funny that the sand seemed to get Genie tired also. Both the dogs were so excited upon getting on the sand and feeling all the wind. But, after a half hour or so, every time Cindy and I would stop, we would see Genie sit down panting. Even Jules pretty quickly stopped running around, and just kept a normal pace.
