For some reason they gave me back my little bag complete with my wallet and everything that was in there besides the memory stick, money and bank card. The woman even "kindly" zipped it up and put it in my lap. I started feeling really claustrophobic and overheated and gasped that I was hot. The woman lifted my hat up slightly so my nose and mouth were exposed and told the driver to turn on the air conditioning.

Sept 15th is the Central American Independence Day.
In 1821, Honduras, Guatamala, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Nicaragua all declared the seperation from their ties to Spain and developed their individual governments( at first they wanted to create a group governement, but that quickly turned messy and resolved into seperate governing bodies).
Needless ...

I have learn't 4 very important things so far.
#1. No bus is ever too full. For anyone who has never seen a standard school bus with 150 people on it, let me tell you, its like seeing fat ******* sweating in a bikini.. busting at the seams and so unappealing.
#2. If you want to get somewhere quickly, run. A twenty min drive by car=2 hours on a stuffed passed capacity bus.
#3. Refridgeration is never ...
... this meeting was THREE hours long, and honestly, no progress in any discernible manner was being made - thus on top of all the other factors mentioned before, I started nodding off - I'm sure everyone must have noticed... and I really DID try (but failed) valiantly to stay awake. Finally, one lady got up and went into her house, reappearing some minutes later with a steaming cup o' joe, and put it firmly in my hands. I peered down at the cup into its dark brown depths ...

Masaya, Nicaragua sainty1... and good! The ferry was half loaded, we occupied the only remaining seat near the window. People were coming and coming, sitting close to each other...We met this guy Udo from Germany. He was talking to us about what he does (artist), his works, his travelling, his life. We shared our experiences. He was very interesting. By the time we sailed off, we were already tired. Then, we expected the ride to be about an hour (we didnt do any research at all). Turned out, it's ...
Ometepe Island, Nicaragua pitabreadWe arrived in Granada just as it was getting dark and scrambled amongst about 10 other gringos on our bus to find a hostel. Fortunately we found a good one near the center of town, where beds cost more than we would normally pay ($7 per person) but included a big breakfast and free internet. We got a room with the just the 4 of us, with Joel and Andrea on the bunk beds and Joseph and I on a double. We had cable in our room and the ...
Granada, Nicaragua ejmaue... so they are not prioritized for food. They do not have the money or means to fix them therefore many litters are born and left to life's chances. It breaks our hearts. The buses have been an adventure. The ¨chicken buses¨ aka old US schools buses where any goes on and off has been much fun. There is the driver and typically two other guys working the door in front and back. They whistle and do hand signals out ...
Granada, Nicaragua gra8ful... the lake all day and all night, when ever we wanted! There were tubes, kayaks, and canoes available for us. We cooked some great food and just were able to take a vacation from our vacation before heading back to Managua for school. Back in Managua: So I have just had my first two classes here and they sound absolutely amazing and I am very excited to be back in school. I am such a nerd and I love it! I woke up this morning so very ...
Managua, Nicaragua geldakkhAfter a few days in Granada, I went down the the Laguna de Apoyo for a week of Spanish class. I wanted a few days in a peaceful quiet setting, and I figured I had finally been able to absorb and apply what I´d learned in San Cristobal-- so I was ready to do a little more.
Laguna de Apoyo is a fresh water lake in a dormant volcano`s crater. The land around it is a natural reserve and filled with tons of birds and howler monkeys. The school I chose is a ...
