The cool thing about arriving in a new place at night is that when you wake up you get to see it in a whole new light. This Mediterranean fishing port on the Istrian coast is even more charming by day. After a much needed leisurely start to the day we wandered down the polished cobbled stone streets in search of bikes. For 50 kuna (about 10 New Zealand dollars) each you can hire a bike for 5 hours. ... point from Italy. So we bid farewell to ham products three times a day as our slow ferry lived up to its billing with a chug out into the Adriatic Sea. The town of Rovinj was alive and buzzing when we arrived at 9.30pm. A local group was singing very loudly on a stage by the water. People were drinking, dinning and wandering the streets. Amazed once again at roman technology. Visited Cameo making ...

When Blake was done, we wandered deeper into the city's maze of narrow streets, eventually finding our way back to the city center where the market was winding down. We ate lunch at an Italian inspired restaurant (Trieste is less than 30 km away) with tables in the city square before returning to retrieve the mini-bus.

Leaving the parking lot was much easier than ...

... pointing to Hum encourage us to continue. As we near what is probably the last turn to the town, we are turned away because the road is blocked by a big Hollywood movie production. The Lake is being filmed in Hum. The man turning us back tells us an alternate route and also suggests a great spot for dinner. We follow his advice. We never get to Hum because the restaurant is just before we get there and once we arrive there, we find no reason to go any further.
