Phillip Island

Hollywood Hotel

... don't know who they are or what the film is but you might? Lol. So on talking business Theo said we get paid our hourly rate for cleaning the rooms and working in the resturant/bar area and that we have accomodation at the Hotel for no extra cost (get in!!!) the only compromise is that we look after reception for him when we can so that he can spend time with his family etc - to me that is more than fair ...

Penguin Parade

... don't blend in.  They keep safe by staying in groups and by waiting until it is dark.  We saw them venture in, but then a seagull scared them back out to sea.  This occurred several times before they finally made it. For quite some time, packs of adorable penguins would come in on the waves, scramble around trying to determine if it was safe, and then make the trek across the beach.  We couldn't photograph it, as the flash apparently hurts their eyes ...

Creatures I have known

... Australia when i saw it. On my way to work the other day I also caught sight of a number of bull ants waking up now the sun has arrived. Like normal ants but twice the size, red and poisonous. Fabulous. Again, they're never going to kill anyone (unless it's like an attack en masse, like the wasps in My Girl - poor Macaulay Culkin) but you'd certainly know if you were stung by one A trip to Phillip Island this week saw me meet a number of jelly-fish whilst walking along the beach. I'm ...

Christmas Celebrations - Phillip Island

... view them in their natural habitat. They are so cute. I was very good at spotting them high up in the trees. We managed to see some babies & we actually saw the koala's moving around. They have a reputation for being very lazy! One of the koala's walked straight in front of us & up into another tree. It was fascinating to see him make his way up the tree & at one one point we thought we were going to have to catch him as ...

Shameless

... it involved turning the Wilson kitchen upside down to slow roast a fat leg of lamb for the nine hours we were out painting the town red. It all started at the bowling alley where we threw a few strikes, supped happy hour specials and giggled at some hideous people-watching specimens. This was all before we let rip in the Ha'penny Bridge where we had only the very best intentions of ...

Melbourne Roadtrip

... Casino and the Rialto Towers (great view of the city at the top). That night we met up with a friend of Adam's from Canada. We all went out and met up with Joe and Carolyn once again. The night went very long and again provided some great memories. Melbourne was nice but I do prefer Sydney. Day 7: Once again on 3 hours sleep and feeling awful, we began our coastal road trip back. We hadn't planned this part at all so we chose Lakes Entrance as our ...

The Idea

... on the road during the day, and they are of the BIG kind. I have been told that there exists some kind of metal tubes, that you put on your vehicle, and that generate a sound that kangaroos can hear from miles, so they can run away across the road before you are there - If you go camping off the road, it is really, really remote. 5 liters is not "A lot of water", but you know that already. If you want to be on the safe side, I guess you ...

Phillip Island
