... A very entertaining pastime is to go "Mudlarking" on the banks of the Thames when the tide is out.
You've got to keep a weather eye on the quickly rising tide and check out tide time tables before hitting the beach. Just so you know, in olden times, prisoners where tied to the wharves at just the right height to eventually drown when the tide rose above just above their noses. Gulp!
