Barrier Reef Dr. San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize Cayes, Belize, 226-2014
We spent the day wandering around San Pedro. First, a quick breakfast of pastries and coffee and tea downstairs at Ruby's Cafe. We were looking forward to the bacon and egg Johnny Cakes, but they were out. We'll have to see if we can find out what the heck they are another day. While walking just north of town, we turned back to see a huge black smoke cloud coming from the vicinity of the airstrip. Turned out it was Wings Department Store on fire. We wandered over and watched the firefighting...
San Pedro, Belize mikeywaz... had some drinks, and ended up spending most of the afternoon on the island. By the time that we left, Tom and I were running late to return our snorkelling gear to the hire shop before it shut, and needed to make up time. But the driver insisted that we stopped at a place called shark-ray alley for a final snorkel. It was cloudy; the water looked unappealing, so I decided to stay on the boat. The driver said: "It's really good here ...
San Pedro, Belize sam180... we swam with nurse sharks and sting rays, the sting rays would swim right up into the tour guides arms then we could pat them, the sharks just seemed to swim circles around us all. On the way back from the day tour they served rum punch sailing back at sunset. The next few days in aye caulker just consisted on reading swimming and more reading, one night we done trivia and won (with a couple from Ireland) so we shared $50 bucks between us on drinks.
Caye Caulker, Belize Cayes, Belize darkproject2... was drunk, then a guy from Austria David came and joined us, I politely informed him he needed a haircut. Just making friends the good old anglo saxon way. The lobster and accompanying rice was spectacular all the more delicious because of how long it had taken. A great night and a great day. The next day saw us chilling and waiting also to see how Marten and Steffi had got on with their 5am start to go diving in the famous BLUE HOLE! It sounded incredible as Marten dived ...
Caye Caulker, Belize Cayes, Belize nikandads2008... of my last days here. I fly home next Tuesday, June 3rd. I will be home for one whirlwind week and then head North to Alaska the following Tuesday. Hope to see you all then! --------------------------------------- --------------------------- "Not till we are lost, in other words, not till we have lost the world, do we begin to find ourselves, and realize where we are and the infinite extent of our relations." - Thoreau, Walden
Caye Caulker, Belize snowchick2001... and there was a golf cart waiting for me to take me to the hotel. What great service. This place is beautiful! Not croweded at all. It will be dark soon. Man it gets dark by 6:30 so going to see the sights tomorrow. Staying in my own little bunglow, no T.V no phone, fantastic!! Tired long day of traveling. Gonna get up early, I hope
Caye Caulker, Belize gloriab... Met a guy named Floyd. After a quick nap it was off to the Relocation Tour dinner - where we got drenched. The 60% chance of rain finally caught up to us. We still had dinner on the beach after the storm passed. Met some nice people there. Looking forward to finding out a lot at the seminar tomorrow.
San Pedro, Belize mikeywaz... as much as in the United States. Highlights from this part of the trip include scuba diving, my four lobster tail dinner, and hanging with a kindred traveler named Scott (i.e. Scooterlicious). He was just started his round-the-world trip too. From Belize I took of for Florida for my sisters wedding. After an extended chat with customs, and driving around lost for a while, I made it to my sister's new house. The ...
San Pedro, Belize bjacobs77Wow, I really overslept that day in Caye Caulker. I forgot how much energy the sun can just zap out of you. We didn't get up until about 10:30 on Thursday morning. I wanted to go on Ragamuffins tour out to the Hol Chan marine reserve, but sleep deprived me of the experience. Oh well, I really didn't have anything to do that day except relax. After traveling with everybody for about a week, we came to the conclusion that this was just kind ...
Caye Caulker, Belize utahrugby... that Natasha was right... it was prickly heat. I thought it could be, but was confused by the fact that I got it in cozumel when it really wasn't that hot, but didn't get it in La Paz where it was unbearably hot. Weird. Anyway, it is gone now thank god. Oh, but now I've got a bit of a cold. grr. Thank god I didn't thow out my bottle of Advil Cold and Sinus like I was going to (in order to get rid of all things that weren't absolutely necessary)... now I am glad I ...
