I'm just packing everything up for my cruise. Eeeee! I am so excited. And I've actually planned ahead and have four nights post-cruise booked. Look at me being on top of stuff. However, it's another budget airline situation to get me to Sicily, but at least this time I am prepared. Which I think is half the battle? At least I thought that's what GI Joe always said.
It is FREEZING in Venice. Granted, I probably don't have the right attire, but still it is cold, cold, cold ...
... was beautiful with views of the sea from every angle.
Tilly wanted to try some traditional food and we walked the narrow streets and found a small bakery and we shared a Pita we then felt a bit more confident so we explored more of the little side streets and looked around all little shops it was great fun.
We now had walked for while so it was time for a cold drink and we found a little café and got a beer and a red and sat in the sun, the special ...
... a long lunch we headed over to San Marco Plaza and did a lot of walking around and souveneir shopping. We headed back to the hostel in the early evening (it only took about 45 minutes on the way back since we somewhat had our bearings of where we were headed) and grabbed a nice meal at a place nearby.I ended up falling alseep a little after 10pm and ended up sleeping until morning, so needless to say I was very rested for Monday.
Monday was spent mostly wandering around the ...
Venice
Raining and pouring for the morning in Venice..but we braved the elements and the buses and the Italians and other tourists to head from the motel (on the mainland) into the city of Venice. We were soaked by the time we got off the bus but the “Australian Drowned Rats” (ADRs) carried on.. We somehow bought tickets for a boat trip.. And then took the wrong boat but ended up on a great trip down the Grand Canal…even in the ...
After the wedding we spent a few days in Venice before flying home. This is one of the cities I wish I could walk around without anyone else there. I am sure it is much more beautiful without the hundreds of people on every little bridge. It was a lot of fun wandering around, getting lost and then finding a place to enjoy a glass of wine.
cheers
... just landed. On my feet not problem. Jill and Ian were at the landing spot with Poppy taking photos. They headed off to town to meet the guys for their trip. Pete had to go back to town as he had had problems getting money out. I lay on the ground with an unhappy Poppy, missing her parents. At 1 they appeared in the sky and seemed to stay close together before very graceful landings. Jill had done it once before and Ian hadn't been bothered before. It had been ...
Malcesine, Italy sarahbooth... on my way I wanted to get a glass of white wine but it was 20 euro, I opted for a can of Italian beer from a corner store for 1 euro and set on the side of the canal and tried to read a pocket book of common Italian phrases. I got back to my hostel and went right to sleep. I awoke early the next morning, with a nervousness that I would not be able to take the water taxi or I would miss my train. On my way to the taxi, I crossed one small bridge and bought my ...
Venezia, Italy kenbeyerlein... down the grand canal to our stop, wandered through the tiny alley ways till we found our hotel checked in and headed to St Marks Square. At first the ride down the grand canal was very exiting - I never dreamed I would be floating down the grand canal in Venice. It was all a bit over whelming at first. But then the novelty wore off. The whole time we were there, there was a constant fog so heavy you couldn't see over the bay. We were only there ...
Venice, Italy stug... the horse that never was, to perspective in the Magi painting. It had brilliant videos and this captivated both the BOSS and I for 2 further hours. [You are not allowed to take photos in any of the art galleries - so there are no photos of artworks accompanying these two days.] We returned to our now favourite Italian restaurant for a quick lunch before collecting our bags and catching the train to Venice.
Florence / Venice, Italy scootergal... but I was expecting China style sleepers like the ones in The Amazing Race. Best bit is I get 3 chicks in the same room ~ o hwait, it's been this way for the past 3 nights! hah! Justy started to interview us about our time so far. Wendy's comment springs to mind "Bye Italy! I didn't like Italy at all! I'm never coming back!". Justy & Wen (and myself occasionally contributing) are practising their german. 2 WC's in our carrage are flooded, so we use the ones in ...
