Since we had to fly through San Juan to and from the BVI we decided to spend a little time in Puerto Rico. We arrived from the airport, went right to the apartment and dropped our bags. ... pleasant. Wide pedestrian avenues, benches, and decorative plants and sculpture follow the walls around the city's perimeter. A large fountain set in a park provides a nice place to sit and enjoy the surroundings, and it was largely empty on our late afternoon visit.
The airport is fairly close to the pier. Some cruises actually originate in San Juan, allowing week-long cruisers to go as far south as Barbados.
