... Venice in the ghetto (in a very very small area). It was restricted living in the ghetto but the only place the Jews were permitted to live. If the Jews went out they had to wear yellow or red hat. They were only permitted to be Pawn brokers/moneylenders or doctors. They had to pay very high taxes as well. They couldn't own land. It was very hard living. They couldn't go out at night.

We returned the F-lat-ee to Europcar at Piazzale Roma. Dad reckoned they were pretty casual in signing it back in but he returned the keys and then we had to take our luggage down to the vaporetto - the water service that takes people around Venice.
It cost us €28 for the family but then we got the best seats at the back of the boat. It took about 40 mins to get to our stop in Arsenale but we went through the Grand Canal ...
... Bridge before collecting our bags from the hotel and heading to the train station on a water bus. We boarded the overnight train to Paris and quickly realised that our 2 cabins were not near each other. Jason negotiated with the conductor and George and I were able to move to the cabin adjourning Jason and Zoe. George and Zoe were so excited to see where their beds were and to be sleeping on a train. Love and smiles, ...
... city today which was really neat. Since it's all surrounded by canals it makes for a really interesting layout. It's near impossible to not get lost if you're exploring, but it was fun finding our way home; like a giant maze with everyone going to different exit ...
