A Happy Little Day In Civitavecchia, Italy

Saying goodbye to the extremely crowded but beautiful Firenze, we boarded our train for Rome that afternoon. It was only a short wait of about an hour and a half at the train station this time, unlike our three hour marathon at the station in Venezia. After an hour and twenty minutes we hit the Roma Termini train station, a sprawling mass of tracks and people and platforms and shops. On the way into Rome you could tell you were heading towards a large European city by the size of the graffiti...

... And from the looks of the menus&#8230;.there&#8217;s going to be some good eating too! I&#8217;m excited&#8230; Our room isn&#8217;t bad for being inside. It&#8217;s not huge but we&#8217;re not planning to spend much time in it anyways except for sleeping. And our stewards seem like real nice guys. They&#8217;ve been folding up towel decorations on our bed into animals and other shapes. This is going to be a good vacation!

... life. Periodically doing some window shopping and entering stores of intrigue! When shopping, Rick usually has a talent for seeking out sporting goods stores and he didn't disappoint. With no map or GPS, navigating the streets of a foreign country and language, he was able to seek out a cycling shop. Fortunately, we couldn't bring a bike back onto the ship so I was confident he wasn't going to make a purchase that would ...

... s a communications consultant &#8211; he&#8217;s a retired but still working judge. When we were more or less kicked out of the restaurant, we took our glasses of wine and went to an amazing show in the theatre &#8211; a NY Jewish guitar and mandolin virtuoso playing with a string quartet and a bunch of other musicians. Best show we&#8217;ve seen so far. Not quite drunk enough, we headed for the piano bar where we closed the place at midnight ...

... still have a long way to go.<br>We went up to the Oasis to have birthday drinks for Graeme and a lot of people joined us. It was a great night and when we all went down to have dinner we had more fun. One of the waiters came over and started to sing Italian songs to us. It was really special. The waiters were dressed in green/white striped or red/white striped tops which gave it a really good Italian feel.<br>Bye from Rome.

... the church was free! As we approached the entrance, we saw a hallway which was being gaurded by the swiss gaurds...in their very fashionable orange and blue uniforms. We passed through a tent where people who were unappropiatly dressed were stopped. The dress code is to cover your knees and shoulders, so I sported my fashoinable cardigan sweater. We then walked up the large steps and stepped into the church. I have to inform you that what I am about to write will in no way ...

Rome

... We arrived in Rome at our campsite the Seven Hills Village at about 3pm. We had a cute little tent with a wooden floor, single beds again though. This park had a unique system of money management we had not found previously. On arrival you are issued with a computer chip which you pay to have charged with funds, then for the rest of your stay you insert the chip to do washing, have a shower or buy from the shop etc. You can either then recharge if needed ...
