Feral shopping

A travel blog entry by gmjoja

While Jerry sat in meetings, I went to Union Square to shop Bloomies, Barney's, Saks and a huge Macy's all morning and bought ... lipstick. In a color I already have.

There's a saying in Erie that often comes to mind when I shop high end clothes: "I wouldn't hit a dog in the ass with that.". I say it in my head a lot because I have little understanding of how to navigate off-the-rack shopping and it is far more pleasant to ...

Sea to the mountains

It's Sunday today and our last week of our US music road trip. We spend the morning planning what else we want to accomplish while we're here, then head out to see more racing. This is the last day of the Louis Vuitton Cup and also being a Sunday, there are much larger crowds up at the pier. However, it is also a fog bound race course. Then onto Pier 39 Fishermans Wharf to see the sea-lions which Nina remembered from the last time she was here. The pier is good fun with lovely views but way too touristy for us - it looks like Disneyland! Waking around ...

I'd have to say that living in the Bay Area provides for countless day trips, quick overnight vacations, and limitless transportation. I love it. In high school I used to look out the window during class and watch the planes take off from SFO. Just think, for every airplane you see in the sky (and living in the home town of SFO, I see a lot), there are dozens of people about to embark ...

New York to San Francisco

Early breakfast then packed shuttle to Terminal 7 United Check in. Glad we're early, everything automated for check in except bag tags and extra $50 for checked luggage and must have ID check to put on bag tags. Then... The security check in line. Unbelievably intrusive and way over the top. Massive queues. So glad we are here over two hours ahead. I eventful flight with free water and coffee, pay for cold sandwich. Flight attendants are all older than me on United. An hour delay to get ...
