... it turns out that teaching English is pretty easy, but I don't have to speak at all in Portuguese, and it's just a matter of following some exercises in a book. I basically coach him through, while he picks up occasional new words and I reinforce them through the lesson.
As he was my first student, and I'm going to be teaching him for a while, I got him to tell me about his life, work, family etc. I'm excited to keep teaching, I think it's gonna be pretty fun.
