Taking the train from Padua to Venice did seem like a bit of a cop out but everyone we talked to said that there was just too much traffic to make the ride safe. As we came across the causeway on the train it certainly didn't seem safe to be cycling with the speeding cars we saw. It takes less than 40 minutes on the train to arrive at the St. Lucia station.
