Day 26 - Venezia, Italy
... such a difficult area, because the people were escaping persecution and this area was very difficult to get to. They reclaimed the land like dutchies.
We saw the biggest painting in the world and wandered the new gaol, built in the late 1500’s.
We left our tour and decided to wander a circuitous route via the station to our accomodations.
We had a yummy lunch of Lasagne and pizza. You would think pizzas in Italy would be wonderful, right? Well ...
Day 50
Have had another busy day today. Walked the streets of Florence and saw leather shoes and bag shops everywhere. The smell was just awesome and bags were cheap also. paintings by leading Venetian artists. An extra bonus is that admission is free!
Walking to a dinner place, O'Reilly stops in one of the exquisite Venetian shops that sell Venetian masks. some of ...
The Classic Water City
Next on the must-see list of Italy was Venice. For pure wow factor alone, this may be one of my all time favorite cities. The island portion of Venice is truly fascinating with no motor vehicles or really even bicycles, because anything with wheels would need to navigate a veritable maze of waterways, bridges, and stairs. Transportation by boat is the norm and the water buses are just as efficient as a regular city bus with a no nonsense pick up and drop off and move on routine. One of ...
