... well as the judicial arm Since the 16th century, the palace has been linked to the prison by the Bridge of Sighs which we walked across to tour the prison. The famous Casanova was imprisoned in this building and escaped from it, too.

Another day we took a vaporetto (water bus) down the Grand Canal at sunset. Much of the Grand Canal is not accessible by foot, so the only way to see the once-grand palaces ...

Just adding to my entry I'm not in London and preparing myself for my trip back home tomorrow, I'm just sitting in bed packing all my stuff and making sure I got presents for everyone.

We had the next 6 hours to ourselves. (This is a great feature of this tour--we are given opportunities to explore on our own.) we rambled a bit, found a restaurant with a covered courtyard that was a bit cooler, and ordered a pizza. It was delicious! It is supposed to rain today, and the air is heavy and humid. We shopped a bit, successfully finding a neighborhood that we had walked through in the morning, and then equally successfully finding our hotel for some time with our feet ...

Ok Mr Trafalgar we need to talk no where in your pretty brochures did you tell me that we would be in transit for 36 hours to get from Athens to Venice. OMG what an epic trip. We got off the cruise early morning, did our Athens tour and back on our bus for 3 hours to get to the port of Patras to get the Ferry to the port of anncona in Italy which took 28 hours then a 4 hour drive to get to our hotel in Venice.
