... trucks, yet the trucks are prohibited from traveling in the fast lane except for passing other trucks. For the most part the trucks are restricted from traveling faster than 80 kilos per hour on the highway (about 50 mph). This creates the threshold speed that the slow lane progresses at. Less trucks on the road can mean that this lane picks up a little. Entering the highway takes a bit of courage. The onramps are short and there is no time ...

Life on the Italian Riviera......

... br>so the woman behind the desk in the hotel last night seemed to have a fascination with everything american. but the strangest things at that.....
she kept going on about american cleaning products (specifically floor cleaner) and deodorant. and then her mom came by and couldn't stop raving about penny loafers. very odd. but they were nice and since she thinks i am now her new best friend we got a discount on the hotel.

Emarrassed Brit who can't speak the lingo.. again!

... them like that any more (thank f**k!). I can't even remember how to ask for 2 beers (which is my current minimum requirement. It's 3 when Jamie's around). The lack of lingistic skills I have would be acceptable in most circumstances, but travelling with a Yank who is fluent in 2 languages that most Americans are even aware exist?!? Now that just doesn't seem right.

almost to cinque terre

so left avignon today with thoughts to head to cinque terre, but due to traffic jam only made it as far as arenzano. found a cute pensione and jason was getting sick of driving so seemed like a good place to stop. tried a few others but was like walking through a sad run down old people town so didn't make it more than 5 mins there. well, happy hour time now, so will write more later....

A quick update

... be able to add a few more destinations. Currently under consideration are Prague and Cairo. I'm just now doing my research, and probably wouldn't hit them until after the Greek cruise, but exciting to think about. Not that the rest of my trip isn't excitement a'plenty!

Alright, heading off to bed. Have a good weekend everybody!

Life's a beach here, too!!

... also walked home the long way, making me walk up about 70 - 90 stairs to the train station only to walk down a hill that deposited me a mere 50 feet from where I had started. And then I had the joy of walking up the steps to my street and then the hill to my hotel and then the stairs to the entrance. I know. No sympathy. I get it.

Yesterday I did a quick trip to Portofino. I have to say, I wasn't blown away. I only spent an hour or two there, but ...

Here we go again :) Started my day of travelling at 5:30am Monday morning. I left on time, and all the connections were fine, but I had that uneasy 'I'm sure I've forgotten something' feeling... still havent managed to think of anything major though so hopefully I'm OK! By the time I'd checked in, then been sent to a different desk to pay my 10 pound handling fee, then gone and deposited my rucksack in the 'unusual shaped' luggage sections and got through security, there was a ...

Cinque Terre

After leaving Ian the Irishman, we boarded a train from Pavia to Monterosso, the most northern town of the Cinque Terre (5 lands). On the train were were all checking out the bites I'd gotten the night before. I'd say about 50 altogether, no joke. We also realized that both of my ankles were swollen up like ballons and it felt like someone was squeezing my ankles and pulling on them. It was going ...

... the devil incarnate". He had black black hair, on his head and legs, and a bright red speedo. To top it off, he had a pointy soul patch, like Craig used to on Days of OUr lives ( don't pretend you don't know who I am talking about). HE was a skulker too, and sauntered around and around our little group, waiting for one of us to be left alone so he could swoop. He thought he was so incredibly sexy, and he just...wasn't. I Hvae to say, speedos ...
