We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.

Prior to arriving in Corfu we travelled via an overnight ferry in which we had airline seats to sleep in. Although the ferry itself was actually really nice, we literally did not sleep at all with gypsy's wandering the room ...

... European style) and said, “You are family now.” How cool is that? Once and for all, I’ve achieved the status of a local, and not just a tourist. Christina said she was so glad to have us, and I was content knowing I’d been really useful.

As the guests dwindled, Jon and I sat down to a delicious meal of chicken souvlaki (skewers) with that amazing pit bread, salad, tzatziki and french fries.
