Well it's been almost 3 weeks of fun in the sun and it ain't letting up just yet. Our "deluxe" bungalow at Samui Island Resort didn't quite turn out as expected but the fact that the place is right on the beach, has a pool and is in the quieter part of town has made it our own little piece of paradise. The beach sand is nice and fine so is great for a natural exfoliant. It must look pretty weird to people walking past to see two girls in Gs rubbing sand onto every part of them, but it's reall...
Koh Samui, Thailand cherryThis morning we skipped the hotel buffet breakfast and went up the block to a nice Western-looking restaurant. The food was good and so was the service. We did some more walking around down the busy streets and went back to the mall from yesterday for one hour facials. Once again cutting it close, we raced back to our hotel on a sawngthaew (like a hop on, hop off pickup truck with benches in the back) and grabbed our bags. As we were leaving the room for the last time, Robert somehow broke th...
Ko Samui, Thailand travelingdivaWe had breakfast at our hotel by the beach (Chaweng Beach), and then walked along the shoreline for a long way. There were a ton of beachside massage stands, and manicures and pedicures. We also spotted the stinky drunk guy from the plane yesterday but walked past him undetected, thankfully. We stopped for drinks at a beachside patio and ordered pina coladas all round. I think they may be our new favourite drinks. Robert thinks he is metro for drinking them, but back home in Calgary he couldn...

... a tree and went for a dip in the rain. But it didnt stop. So we grabbed our stuff (now wet) after about 20 minutes and headed for one of the raised and covered wooden platforms that belonged to the expensive hotel.

We decided to have lunch there when the rain still didnt stop, and when the guy asked us if we were staying there I panicked and was instantly like "Yes". However Pete had already said no when we got a drink earlier! So I just backtracked and put it down ...
Chaweng, Ko Samui, Thailand comedyad... dinner, when Zoe and Rich miraculously appeared in the foyer. They were staying here, and offered to look after my bags while I combed the beach for a room. Turned out to be a godsend, stayed at Jeps which was excellent and cheaper than Naga anyway. Was especially pleased with the outcome in later days, when Zoe repeatedly told me of being woken up by mosquitoes and miscellaneous insects crawling over her in the night. Being reunited with the terrible twosome ...
Koh Samet, Thailand lnb203... Fortunately, for 40 quid you can extend it for a whopping seven days! So tell me this: for a country whose economy is dependent on tourism, which is struggling because of the recent political upheaval, which dumbass introduced this rule!!? Add in the fact that a lot of locals (especially anyone who has anything to do with getting from A to B) are just out to rip you off at every possibility, Thailand is not a nice ...
Chaweng, Ko Samui, Thailand icarver... duration of your visit. Staying in a beautiful bungalow and it's free too. My friend has a mate who's dad owns the complex. Will be staying here for 3 nights before returning to Bangkok for my appointment at the hospital. Really nice of my friend to invite me, just what I needed! Day 98 - 30/05/08 Hired a scooter today and rode round the bumpy tracks of the island. All the bikes here, even the scooters have what I would describe as moto ...
Koh Samet, Thailand christosp... this house along the main drag. Thai people are very friendly and being white, we are targets. In this case we wanted to be. After much haggling we secured a ride for five of us in the craziest contraption you have ever seen. It was a motor bike attached to a metal cart. All of us piled in the open air cart and held on. The driver stopped at a convenience store. He brought out a giant coca-cola bottle and filled the tank. Apparently, this is ...
