Sam's Guest House Kanchanaburi

We took the local bus from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi 2 hour journey for 90p bargain! Ahhh... I'm in a good mood this morning! I wake up slowly after falling back asleep at least twice. Life is good! I pack up my stuff and head to the lobby to grab breakfast before starting my days adventures, whatever that may be. Well well.. turns out there were some more crazy times to be had in Thailand.... However this time it was a small town about 2 - 2 1/2 hrs north east of Bangkok... A small, but from what we experienced, a very happening town called Kanchanaburi. To get there we had to hire a minibus. The minibusses go up to Kanchanaburi regularly - like one every hour - and it costs $150 baht each.. or about $6 NZ. Got up at 7am to catch the bus from the southern terminal Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. Travelled to Kanchanaburi (River Kwai to you and me) via bus from Bangkok. The place is stunning but very moving - visited 2 war cemetries and travelled to Nam Tok through Death Valley up to Hellfire Pass.

We arrived in Bangkok at 6.25am and need to get to a different Rail station called Bangkok Noi to get a train to Kanchanaburi. Quick Taxi ride and there in plenty of time for 07.45 train to get us to Sams Guest house. A nice Thai man asked at Bangkok if we wanted a taxi for 300 baht so told him where to get off and seeing thjat we were seasoned travellers he instantly reduced the price to 250.
