... and arranged for a tuk tuk to take us on the 1 hour journey to Puri. It turns out the guy who was driving us had some bad wrists or something because he would accelerate and let go, accelerate and let go…this turned our journey into a 2 hour+ ride and was happy once we had arrived in Puri.
En route we stopped at a booze shop as we were unsure of how much would be about Puri with it being such a holy place. ...

... in the centre of town. Our rooms (on the second floor, had large French windows which opened out onto small balconies. These overlooked the promenade and onto the "beach" across the road. Very well appointed with an excellent restaurant downstairs. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

... searching for Jitu: he had retreated (as he told us that he would). Once found, (as we were told later), the priest demanded of Jitu that he make us change our minds. It was at this point I let the priest know that he was not getting anymore. I can't recall whether or not my remark was blunt. I guess it wasn't as this is not in my nature !!

... one too. The street where my hotel is, is a 6 lane road with a 20 ft impeccable pavement on both sides (never mind that two wheelers are merrily zipping upon it in true Indian style ; at least it is there). I think its time to consider abandoning Bangalore, where the word pavement has not yet entered the dictionary.

Its just a night halt here and I will be on the road again come morning. Orissa is not my target this time.

I arrived yesterday evening and it was not easy to find an hotel, all full, except for a miserable and expensive room that I found after an hour of walking around the railway station.
This morning I labored to find the tourist office in Bubaneshwar and when I got there, I found that the tours begin from tomorrow, so I took a rick shaw and went in search of the temples of the Middle Ages, cute, stone ...
