Jersey Idyll

... bit. The people are delightful, everyone being quite friendly and helpful. I must admit that sometimes I could not understand them because there is apparently a mixture of English/French/Jersey mix that is used and ordinary blokes on the street calling out to each other are totally incomprehensible to me. The view of the sea is just remarkable. This is one of those places where the boats are sitting on mud at low tide and up to 6-9' of water at high ...

barefoot travelers and flooded causeways

... over the slimy walkway where spots of it are covered with seaweed, and up to the castle doors which are very locked and closed tightly. no signs as to why. there was one workman taking a break and he said the winds were too high for the boats so they closed the castle.
Poo, that was one attraction I really wanted to see. So I walk around the outside a little bit, in all, spending maybe 15 minutes there ...

Oh, Bernstein, I'll take you to Foggy London Town!

... an unregistered Italian "cab driver" who spoke some pretty ****** broken English. I gave him the address of where our friends were staying, which seemed to be fine until the Italian man realized he GPS was not functioning at the time. Nevertheless, he assured me he knew where it was. On the way, we listen to what I think is the Dire Straits Greatest Hits collection, featuring Sultans of Swing. With my classic rock knowledge, I obviously stumped Millis who obviously had no ...

London

... on a plane. Its embarrassing. Luckily the second leg of my trip from Seattle to London was uneventful and I managed to actually sleep on the overnight flight. With 28 hours in London, I did my best to adjust to the time change. Most of my time was spent wandering around the city, South Bank and Greenwich. Funnily enough, the hotel I was staying at was the same one that I stayed on my first trip to London.... The Royal National. I am sure some of you reading this were ...

EASTERN BLOC PARTY

... t-shirts batting their eyelids at the male teachers accompanying them on their excursion. Fortunately, we were back in the homeland of Zubrowka, the Bison Grass Vodka we had become acquainted with in London. We immediately purchased a couple of bottles along with some apple juice and blocked it all out with glasses of liquid alcoholic apple pie. Originally, our main reason for visiting Krakow was to visit Auschwitz ...

Arriving in London

... a little withdrawn from everyone. I don't quite know how to address the situation. There are two French brothers in my room and they are the only ones I had a true conversation with them. Of course, my only friends here are the French! One of the London Rail Tube lines that I needed to take was out of order. I have to call a number and hope they can get me a return reservation on the ...

National Gallery and the Freaks of London

... of them. We walked down to the park and on the way saw some guards on horseback and took some pictures of them. As we continued onto the park we had some idiot pakistani's or indian boys (who were about 15) follow us about 1 metre behind. I gave them the worst evil look i have ever given anyone (Caz was really impressed) and they left, not before yelling something at us that i couldn't decipher. So we were like, ok 2 freaky encounters (tennis man and lady stalkers ...

that that don't kill me can only make me stronger!

... is still there from the 1200s. Really neat stuff. I also watched the changing of the guard that morning at Buckingham Palace and walked through St. Jame's Park. I saw the biggest pelicans I've ever seen in my life there!!! After that I went to Westminster Abbey. I was in awe of it. It is so beautiful and there is so much history. Just to even think that you're standing in the same place where every monarch from the UK has been crowned is pretty amazing. Plus ...

... Hope it worked out, and you got there on time! Out other old flat mate cheeky Robert arrived later in the afternoon and we proceeded to drink plenty of beer for the rest of the night in some of Oxford beautiful old pubs, and generally had a great night until we had to catch our respective last buses/train back to London. I had a very strange walk home at 1 in the morning from Baker St around the side of Regents Park with literally ...

I went to Bath and now I'm nice and clean

... spring breeze and sunshine that makes you want to do nothing more than take in the perfect day. We toured the Roman baths - which were truly beautiful. I actually found them incredibly relaxing and tranquil. Even though I know the "atmosphere" of the baths was much different when they were actually in use, there was still this overwhelming communal "calm" about the baths. I liked it. The four of us ...
