stay over in Sundby

we missed a ferry at Fehmarn, making Copenhagen a little too far. We decided the "city" of Nykobing would probably the best option. The first two we tried we either fully booked or closed (at 10pm). Luckily we found by change hotel Sam, which, despite its name and odd location, was actually pretty good.

On the way to Gedser we admired the excellent Danish species from the second floor of our train)It turned out that this is a small town in which the sale of tickets for the ferry begins 15 minutes before departure))

the longest ride EVER!

... no lights we were prbably not at our safest point! Finally finding the house just before 11pm our host couple had teh most AMAZING soup waiting for us, one of the best meals i have ever had! I think we smalt so bad from 99 hours cycling we slept in a comfy out house surrounded by plants, so i guess we had been demoted to the green house, but hey, it could have been worse.....

On the Way to Sweden

This morning we decided to have a bit of a lie in, but we were all pretty much awake by 7.30, so I guess we are just getting used to lower levels of sleep than back home. I jumped in the shower not long after, fearing a mass rush for it later on. As it happened the rush never happened, as the dirty buggers staying with us didn't bother washing themselves. We didn't really get chance to speak to them, as they were asleep when we saw them first ...

... old Danish village we enjoy amazing weather, cute houses and some great dessert at a beautiful restaurant that is in a traditional house. We sit outside, the weather is perfect, and I feel more relaxed than I have since Thailand! And just then... BOOM! Something hits my head! I look around and don't see anything. I feel my head where I felt the ...

Copenhagen in a day...

Up bright and early I finally feel a bit better from my extended drinking binge in Sweden. I grab a city bike, which turns out to be more like a flintstone-mobile, and set out on a whirlwind tour of yet another beautiful city! My ride takes me through parks, across the river a few times, down cobblestone streets (not an easy feat with that bike), and through every neighborhood in ...

island fun

... seeing the castle, as it closed at 5 and we arrived at 6, so we found a large car park near a sports centre and prepared to settle in for the night, the next thing we knew, thousands of cars turned up filling the huge car park to capacity, with us stuck in the middle! Turns out an Opera singer was performing there for the night, so by 11pm the car park was empty again, and we were left all to ourselves. Miles so far: 2808

Maribo

Hi everyone, so the last couple of weeks have been really fun. I've started playing soccer, I'm not very good but its a lot of fun and a great way to meet more people. And last week my family took me around to see some of the castles on Zealand, the island I'm on. They are so amazing, one of the ones we went to was a museum so I got to see what they were like when people ...

The tale so far

... for the taxi rank.... there was NO WAY I was trying to catch a bus..... I wasn't up for it in the slightest. It was cold and raining and the taxi line (there was only one other person) had NO shelter at all. But I was surprised to see hundreds of bikes parked in the 'car park' with plastic bags protecting the seats from the wet... and I thought 'oh... these poor people... it must have been warm and sunny thismorning and ...

bicycling through a land of strawberries

... to anyone who travels in this area ever. We rode and could see wheat fields, flowers, houses and had a view of the ocean almost the whole ride. OUr bikes we were on were not good bikes, so it was rough riding. Especially up hills. 'But when you see a 70 year old german couple doing the ride, you figure you have to just stop whining and pedal. All over the countryside there are places that have stands set up selling fresh strawberries, cherries, etc. And there is a jar for you ...
