    ... to quickly excuse myself before I punched her!!

    We then decided to stop at an Italian cafe for late lunch early dinner....our 2nd bad choice for the day. I think the waiter was the husband of the pool lady. Most ill mannered man out and not just to us. OK so its dangerous heat but here is a tip if you hate tourists your in the wrong job. Food was **** and only verbal tips provided.

    ... I even found a virus on the streets of Trieste (see picture below). Molly and I are giving presentations at the meeting so we worked on our talks for a little while after we came back to the hotel. I still felt pretty jet lagged so I didn't stay up too late.

    It will be exciting to tell you about the first day of our meeting tomorrow!

    ... and another photo opportunity we see another vendor selling lemons. We tell an English couple buying from him about our recent experience and the vendor pipes up “He is not a good man – for €10 you can have…” and gestures to his whole van. We buy a lemon to share; we have heard the lemons from here are sweet enough to eat, and the man peels it for us to eat there and then.     ... thru 4 tunnels and into Pompeii. Guided 2 hour walking tour of the ruins of Pompeii city destroyed by Mt Vesuvius eruption in Oct 79 AD. Wow in tour only covered about 20% of city as so massive. Had population of 15,000 thousand people within city walls and sea came right to city walls. The sea around 10 km away now. Amazed once again at roman technology. Visited Cameo making ...
