... of local wine and a tankard of beer at a street café overlooking the ocean and yacht basin – some of the boats in the 100 foot and up length. Then we walked down the road along the harbour until we found a bus stop and made our way back to the ship. On the way, we found a duty free shop and bought bottles of wine and champagne. Liquor on board the ship is not included and we thought we couldn’t even bring ...
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain suzanne-normanAnd at long last we are on our way ... can't quite believe we are actually starting this journey after all the work, planning, talking .... And we know we've been to San Telmo many times before but this time it is different!! And so good to have Simon's old friends Max & Linsey onboard - after all they were really the people responsible for him ending up in Port d'Andratx to begin with.
St Elm, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain sharkita... out. It takes awhile to moor the yacht stern to, (the back end up against the dock) and to get out all the fenders (large air filled pads that keep the boats from rubbing up against each other and to setup the passarelle (like a long plank that is motorized with hand rails on each side). By the time we were able to go to shore we were dressed and ready. Several of the crew members had been here before so they were our guides to finding the dance clubs ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourneyWe arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.

Porto Cristo, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourney... us off and then returned to the yacht go continue on their way. Usually the crew will setup an area on the beach with a canopy, beverages, and a few lounge chairs, but since none of that would fit on the heli, it was just us a change of close, beach towels a few drinks and sunscreen.

We weren’t nearly as hyper on the beach today as we were in Formentera. Today, everyone just strolled around the ...
Colònia de Sant Jordi, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... in the local paper. Tourism is the island's primary source of income and it's down about 20%. He agreed that his business was down about that much and we commiserated about the state of the world's economy. Then it was on to the Banys Àrabs, the Arab Baths. This is one of the few remaining original structures from the Moorish period and dates from the beginning of the Moorish reign in the 10th century. The baths have hollow chambers beneath the floor which were heated ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands graybeard... we will open the store fairly soon. The guys I work with are fun too, so when we take a brake it is good to talk to them. They are Davide, from Italy, and David, from Columbia. Davide was an exchange student here three years ago when he met his girlfriend. Now he lives here and works here to be with her, and he is also studying for another degree. David is getting his doctorate in something econ-business-NGO related. Our ...
Palma de Mallorca, Spain stephblue... up to 1800 people. The drive through the area was beautiful. We walked through trees and inhaled the fresh air. Then through gates and in to the courtyard. The staff poured Mediera wine and served cheese, olives and veggie pizza squares. Then out to the grilling area, 4 pigs roasting on the spit. And our chef starting to prepare Paella for us. Rabbit, pork, mussels, shrimp, vegies, rice, garlic, saffron and ...
