      ... the journey on foot, horseback or donkey.

      The climb down was probably more difficult as it was primarily loose rock. While the day consisted of a lot of climbing in hot weather and I now have a blister - the views and the company of other pilgrims made it all worthwhile. I am now checked into a hostel in Puente la Reina, had a shower and am thinking about dinner.

      We decide to have a chill day and stay here a while. The campsite is simple and quiet which suits us completely. We set up camp! The gazebo is so versatile, 2 sides only needed here. The views are as amazing as ever. We cycle into Jaca and have lunch in the Plaza Citedral. Managed a whole sentence in Spanish, so glad I learnt, left, right and straight on yesterday! We see a Chinook and an eagle, not at the same time! We've lots of low flying helicopters, I think we must be near a forces ...

      Imagine 114 people sleeping in creaky, metal bunk beds in an old Jesuit church designed for the spoken voice to be heard throughout a massive building. Now imagine lights on at 6 am and mandatory departure at 8:00. After a sleepless night with the haunting sounds of constant snoring, morning comes with a long line to the toilets with no seats....still much preferred to the "squat holes" of France! Today's walk was a grind at 7.5 hours up ...

      Due to the unexpected 20km national park trail, I had about 3-4 extra hours to kill before heading over to my final destination for the day, Zaragoza, and it was also that time of the day when European take their lunch, 2 pm.
