... the journey on foot, horseback or donkey.

The climb down was probably more difficult as it was primarily loose rock. While the day consisted of a lot of climbing in hot weather and I now have a blister - the views and the company of other pilgrims made it all worthwhile. We decide to have a chill day and stay here a while. The campsite is simple and quiet which suits us completely. We set up camp! The gazebo is so versatile, 2 sides only needed here. Imagine 114 people sleeping in creaky, metal bunk beds in an old Jesuit church designed for the spoken voice to be heard throughout a massive building. Now imagine lights on at 6 am and mandatory departure at 8:00. After a sleepless night with the haunting sounds of constant snoring, morning comes with a long line to the toilets with no seats....still much preferred to the "squat holes" of France! Today's walk was a grind at 7.5 hours up ...
