... so much raw sliced onion in my life, and now I want it with everything. I loved picking fruits to eat right off your trees, and how your people served us a plate of fresh fruit after every meal.

I can still taste your baked eggplant, fresh sausages, rooster in cinnamon red sauce, potato and garlic puree, rice stuffed tomatoes and zucchini flowers, stuffed squid, grilled sardines, okra and green beans in tomato sauce, and even those fresh cut potatoes ...

... excitement and long awaited hugs, we all returned to the ''mansion'' for a hugeeee breakfast on the balcony and later decided to head off to explore the area! We drove up one of the mountains nearby and at first it was thick with chestnut trees! Literally everywhere you looked, tons of them...and massive too! ... Our hotel was quaint - a small, plain little building with peeling paint and a dripping tap in the bathroom. On the upside though, the staff were lovely, and, best of all, the hotel was right next to the city centre, meaning we didn't have to rely on any public transport.

What is immediately devastating about Athens in the heat. Now, I had just come from Wuhu in China, where the red bar was hovering menacingly around 30 degrees, which is bad enough. But Athens ...
