    ... discovered why you can only buy UHT milk in France though... They fill the fields with hay rather than cows! Never seen so many bales! The satnav took us an odd route through some major towns / cities, including rough looking Kehl which we'd advise you give a miss! We finally arrived in Saverne.     ... with lots of tourists. The large river cruises dock here on the River Rhein. We went on a petit road train around the sights and then the next day an open top canal cruise. Apparently they have amazing Christmas markets or Christkindelsmarik held every year since 1570. We found one Christmas shop that is open all year long. The second day we were there it was even busier with 15000 French scouts in town. ...

    ... to look for us! She soon returns, very affable, no problem. Speaks a little Englais so we get by. We are supposed to pay security deposit of 150 euro but she says no need - we look very honest! Very narrow street but we have own garage - small but just right for our little car. Lovely little studio apartment on first floor, not much of a view but right near main part of town.

    ... sightseeing and then come back to hotel for a couple of hours recoup. Any way back to Strasbourg, what a lovely quaint city. Our hotel was opposite the train station along with many others, in a semicircle. Behind this the city spanned out in a series of little narrow streets with houses with windows in sloping roofs, which unless you had air con would be unbearable.
