Good Morning! With today being our visit to my old orphanage; Sisters of Divine Providence Can Tho, I have gathered all of the donations I plan to give to them upon arrival. Thanks to some very good friends & family (Pong & Jackie, Amurlee & Matt, Julie Dapula & her kids and my sister Ami & her husband Drew), I managed to …

Journey from Saigon > Can Tho

So today we are headed south to revisit my city of birth; Can Tho! This is the largest city in the Mekong Delta with a population of 1,000,000. The typical drive down I believe is around 2.5h, maybe 3 from Saigon. But we made 2 stops on the way down, one was a rest stop (but can't remember the name of the town), and the other was in Cai Be. It was …

It was time to leave Saigon. Last night was a very late night. No details as to what I did. But it was a very enjoyable evening with a lovely Vietnamese lady. This morning came way too fast. Up before 6am to have breakfast and then wait for the tour bus at 7h30. Tour bus came at 8, then we ended back up at the tour company offices to exchange …

Floating Market

A travel blog entry by craftinessa

The day started at the riverside in Can Tho to board a boat to go to the Cai Rang Floating Market. The journey was about 7km. The people selling things basically have a long pole attached to their boat, displaying what they have for sale. For example if you want to buy pineapples look for the boat displaying a pineapple. You then sail over and buy …

Journey to the Mekong Delta.

A travel blog entry by craftinessa

An early start to the day, set off from Ho Chi Minh City at 8.30 for a 2 hour drive to My Tho to visit one of the islands in the Mekong Delta. We visited Unicorn Island, which had a coconut candy factory in some of the huts. We walked around tried honey tea and banana wine the equivalent to whiskey. Wasn't sure about the snake and scorpion wine. A …

Good hotel, adequate service, food at the comp breakfast buffet is okay. Rooms are quite spacious and good water flow/pressure in the shower, which to me is very important. Hot water doesn't take too long at all to start flowing which is nice.

Would be nice however, if they allowed you to have 2 keys. One to leave in the room (since it's required to operate the power supply to room) so you can leave the A/C running. Instead of coming back after a long day in the intense heat & humidity, to a warm room!

Overall, about a rating of 8/10 I'd say.
