Long day riding. Stayed off the Interstate Highway but was a great deal longer to get to my destination.
A hot day riding - no shade or cloud cover.
I was going to stop at Shreveport for a cold drink but circled the town and decided to head off to Alexandria via US 171 South (The Scenic Route - according to the HD Touring Guide).
Whilst it was probably far more scenic that the main Interstate Highway it did take me a ways South ...
After driving back highways through a lush and hilly eastern end of Texas, I finally crossed into Louisiana. A few miles into the state, traffic slowed at a police checkpoint. ... br> We had some unfinished business with New Orleans so after picking up the car we drove to the oldest cemetery to have a look around. It was sooooo hot though that we didn't last long before seeking the sanctuary of our cars Air Con. We were literally beading with sweat within a minute of leaving the car. How do people live here?? More to the point how do people work here? We saw some builders labouring away in the sun, insane.
... because someone thought 5:30 a.m. was a good time to fly out. But instead of sleeping I will lay their with my thoughts running 90 miles an hour - is everything packed, did I get everything done at work that I should have, am I crazy for going away for two whole weeks? Can only hope that by the time the plane lands in Honolulu, I will be able to relax, leave all my worries behind and enjoy all that Hawaii has to offer.
