... very easy to say/write, but much more difficult to practice, particularly in the U.S. where we sometimes regard those with other faith as not to be trusted right away, with thoughts of 9/11 creeping in and of news that we hear about a half world away. It is sad that so few actions, by even fewer people have made us mistrust a people who by and large are good.

... amazing. I felt like Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid'. After a very successful trip we headed back on the speed boat to Papua Paradise for our final evening. ... new visa would not be ready until tomorrow - good thing I had not bought a ticket for Tuesday! Ibu Jein had not scheduled a class for me this afternoon since the original plan was for me to accompany Ibu Siska to the Kantor Imigrasi to pick up the new visa and my passport. I left Hosanna and the kids there and headed to Pak Denny's house so that I could get some preparation done on my presentation tomorrow for Pak Denny's Law School assembly. I ended up ...

... looking forward to seeing them again. Ibu Siska and I agreed on the ride home that the Walikota and his wife, Pak Vikky and Ibu Paula Lungotut were very genuine and hospitable. She explained that they have been working with the US students who come to Unsrat to study since the COTIM program was here in 2004, and that they have always been big supporters of the program. It was a great experience - a big contrast from this morning, and I am grateful for the opportunity to meet ...
