... The gateway to Sahara”, a palm oasis in Sahara. But before we got to relax at our hotel we had one more stop; dromedaries ride in the desert! We got traditional beduin clothes to wear, and got divided into small groups, who set out together. I had been looking forwards to this trip for quite some time, but it didn’t really live up to expectations. It was… well…. dull, we had no control over our dromedary, a local guy had them on a lease, I had ...

Kelibi, Tunisia sianethArrived at Douz, the gateway to the Sahara at just after 4pm. Dressed in traditional clothing out of necessity, the heat is tremendous, never felt anything like it. Words cannot describe the experience, especially when the sand started to whip around us. The Sahara sand is incredibly soft and fine, feels just like powder. The Desert was very disorientating.

We hired a taxi van and driver to take us around the south of Tunisia. We figured this would be the best way to see everything we wanted to see. The driver spoke English (and ' other languages- North Americans are lacking in language trainng compared to the people we have met on our trip). This gave us an opportunity to find out more about the Tunisian government, education and ...
Douz, Tunisia janda... all the information I was asked the last time I was stopped. You have to realise that their working day is pretty dull and some nutter on a bike is a highlight for them. They asked to check your passport , but its just an excuse to be nosey. I tell them about my route, places I've visited, places I am heading to, ask a few questions and soon they are ...
