A late start 10.00am and a short drive across the desert to Las Vegas. Our hotel is the Sahara at the end of the strip near the Stratosphere. Richard was keen to see the Hoover Dam so we booked up for a half day trip with the Pink Jeep Company. This took us to the top of the dam and then down inside to see the workings. It was a real feat of engineering and I didn't realise that it was built in the Great Depression. Richard was really interested so we were glad we made the trip. Finally made it to Vegas after an extremely squashy 13 hour flight to L.A. We managed to pick up the hire car okay in L.A., but then proceeded to get lost for about 30/40 minutes and discovered we were heading in teh wrong direction! The freeway in L.A. was HORRIBLE. It was so busy. Seriously, I've never seen so many cars at one time in my life and I was having a panic attack, what with being on the wrong side of the road adn the car and everything!

Well hello there travlpod fans! We are now in Las Vegas - the place where anything goes... There is so much water around considering its right in the middle of the desert. It has been lovely and hot... 25 degress everyday. there are christmas decorations up all all over the place and christmas music playig in all the shops and casinos but it doesn't feel real to us.
