Living the Mandala

... to enter, this wave of heat riding over me, my body feels pressed against a blowing hair-dryer. As I drive from Tamri beach back to Taghazout with the untouched coastline to my right and the barren cliffs at the base of the Atlas mountains to my left, I feel as if an oven door is wide open, blasting HOT into the window, smothering me. I laugh wildly at this new sensation, as if I were in a ...

How sweet it is...

... br>
I haven't seen too much of Morocco yet since I'm working here, but it's got a magical energy to it. The feel of being in Africa, the dry desert land and mountains set against this wild and undeveloped coastline.  Yet at the same time, I feel rather closed up here being a woman in a Muslim land.  Covering when I go out, looking down to avoid the eyes of men; I feel as if I'm hiding my womanhood.  Yet it ...

Sixth Day - Free day

After a long sleep, I woke up fresh as a newborn=)

This day was a day when I decided to finally buy unbought souvenirs and presents. The first thing in my plans was a Confiserie where I could bought great morroccan pastry as a present=) It's Incredible... We walked the streets of Agadir to get to the La Fontaine Place where the Patiserie was situated... The city lives a very interesting life, non-familiar to us ...

Fourth Day - watching more hotels

... is normal.

Sud Bahia 3* - the hotel is the cheapest in Agadir. All rooms are sold though=). Old, but good, has very small territory with a little pool, but if you're goin' to watch Agadir, not lying by the pool - it's the best choice=D.

Club Hotel Al Moggar Garden Beach 4* - great hotel! It's territory is stretched along the beach line. The hotel is oldie, but it's in a good form. Rooms are spacy enough. The pool is interesting ...

Going South again

It had snowed quite a bit overnight, just not enough to make a mess out of the city, which I greatly appreciated for going to the airport again. 11 days in Germany, enough to do my laundry, recharge my batteries and swap guidebooks. I was happy to escape all those Christmas songs that were now playing non-stop on the radio. Three hours and twenty minutes flying time and I found myself in Agadir ...

Day 4 - Wednesday, April 23, 2003

... a young woman sitting with her two children and I went over to her, holding out my ticket. "Agadir?" I asked. She nodded her head. We got on the airplane and arrived in Agadir after a flight spoken completely in Arabic. I met my host father, who took me to their home. I have a living space, a bathroom, and my own bedroom. I slept until noon on Tuesday and then met the children and the mother. They are a very sweet family but very, very different. I am not only getting accustomed to ...

a sea of so many blue taxis ...

... of banas a day keeps us nourished these days, taking little breaks along the cliffs, admiring the crashing surf below. We neared Agadir, and saw a really neat and fully functioning port, complete with a huge repair yard where large wooden ferries and fishing ships were being repaired and rebuilt. Ahhh, Agadir. What can one say about Agadir, except that it translates to 'HELL'. The town is lovely IF you like hotels and resorts with pools and enclosed, uber secure patios. There ...
