... prefects. It was lovely to see him standing up at the front of the hall - he looked very pleased. The boys had all had hair cuts since last week - Steve and I were both amazed to see how different they looked! I adore Morris, and his beautiful smile. It was great to see each and every one of the 12 boys and they all hugged us, shook our hands and asked how we were.

... The only teachers who we found teaching were those that are paid by the parents of teachers. Teachers were promised 16 years ago a better wage and did not receive it yet. The new government did not put the wage increase in the new budget so they are striking. The only people at the schools are the principals and the senior most teacher or kinda like a head teacher. ... it was like (One detail- we at one point had 21 people in a 14 passenger vehicle), but 5 hours and 3 matatus later we arrived safe in Nairobi where we called our cab-driver we knew. We went back to the hostel, immediately showered and met up with my DC friend VJ who was in town. We got Ethiopian food which was AMAZING. Then we went to a bar to meet up with Greg and Abdallah.
