We flew to Kota Bharu from Kuching, because it was the furthest north in Malaysia that I could get us on Air Asia. It is very close to the Thai border on the east coast of the peninsula. ... 16! our cheapest hotel of this trip by a long mile!) but were really very pleasantly surprised with a good sized, newly decorated, modern, nice and clean room! I don't think we took any photos which is a shame but we were really pleased; it even had a hair dryer which I wasn't expecting and to top it all off we were right next to a mall which meant 1. ... hanging about above the door waiting for us. Jeff and Jess were the rather large geckos that kept us company every night. Most geckos you see are just a little bit bigger than the palm of your hand including the tail. These two were just a little bit shorter than the length from your wrist to elbow and quite chunky. The jungle surrounding our bungalow had plenty of Mosquitos, Moths, and other flying things to help keep them fat. It was amusing watching them scurry around ...
