... were so clear and crisp and bright. The next day we woke to the aftermath of a storm, which meant a wavy sea. Not big waves, but big enough for you to dive under (as in YOU, not me, oh no no no bloody way mate!) and try and surf on (but they never got that far as the waves where quite weak). ... But at least they broke on an island where shoes aren't a necessity. Our first full day we were up bright and early and on the beach soaking up the sun, reading and generally doing what you do on an island - not very much. Caz did make friends with some fish who cleaned her feet for her and we both managed to take shade underneath a coconut tree without being hit on the head and killed by a falling coconut (this actually causes more deaths than you'd realise!). ... doesby n’t see many tourists and we seem to be the only Europeans here. Whilst it does mean you see the country as it is, rather than the tourist face you do have to tolerate a few more glances, and poorer English.


The area is predominantly Islamic and much more conservatative other areas of Penninsular Malaysia so much of it is reminiscent of parts of Asian Turkey, and Morocco. I have never seen so manywomens ...
