... but all I get in responce are gruff chuckles and stares from all of them!! That will be a no then aye?!<br><br>Meanwhile back at the ranch, thunder is directly over head and lightening strikes every few seconds!! Jack, Dominic, Carolyn and I pile into our tiny shack and settle down for the night...although we are destined for little sleep as the thunder storm rages overhead, the rain comes through the roof and the local lads bang and shout on the outside of our shack...<br>
Besut, Terengganu, Malaysia followingmyfeet... was donated to the State. We also visited Gelanggang Seni where there are presentations of marital arts and other local activities such as drumming.<br><br>Interesting place but not overly exciting!!! It is obvious that we are travelling towards larger muslim communities.<br><br>Also want to say that the mid-range hotels here (which were fully booked) seem to be more value for your money.
Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia bowtie... I imagine the taxi had already made his fair on the way in to Kuala Besut and had to head back home anyways. The taxis in Malaysia are often old Mercedes..... pretty classy in a funny kind of way. Our taxi driver also had a guest house in Kota Bahru that he took us to... and it was cheap and clean so we stayed! Kota Bahru is the capital of the province of Kelantan... and somewhat cultural. The are best known for there kites.... which we saw many of in the Bazaar and they are very nice ...
Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia heatherlindsay12th May 2009 Nan Hotel, Kuala Bersut, Malaysia (35 RM) Hot and sticky We said our farewells to Elaine and took the 12 o'clock ferry from the Perhentian back to Kuala Bersut. The sea was flat as a pancake so if a ride can be THAT bumpy on a sea THAT flat I dread to think what it would be like when there are a few waves. We collected the bikes and picked the brains of the woman at the travel agency (Anjung ...
Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia 50odd... trip around the two islands. We managed to see beautiful corals, and some exotic fish (even some Nemos), big sea turtles (apparently we were lucky because it is not the season, and Peter even saw a lost one on the beach the night before) and sharks (j'ai bien pensé a toi Alice, tu aurais adore- c'était des végétariens donc ca va, pas peur de revenir avec un bras en moins!!). After the trip, we decided to go for some beers in a bar on ...
Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia leprefrog... three men on another table were smiling and looking at me, and then beckoned for them to come and join me... to which I shook my head! Ben, Tino, Ste and Fleurs bus arrived and so we said goodbye, but not before Tino gav me rucksack a name: 'Carrie Moor' and as much as I protested as I didn't want her to be named in caseshe got lost, the damage was done. I was surprised how gutted I felt watching them drive off and I waited on my own in the bus ...
Wakaf Bharu, Malaysia becpowell... we had to get some money out - easier said than done. Whilst looking for a cashpoint I said to Oliver "I hope our cards work"... sure enough they don't. Of the 4 First Direct cards, 4 Lloyds cards and 2 Mastercards we have between us only one worked. Unfortunately the max limit was 1,500RM - about a third of what we needed for our stay on the Perhentians where there are no ATM's. Sooooo what was ...
Kota Bharu, Malaysia atas... of credit card at all. We're pretty sure craftshops are going to soon have our photos in as timewasting troublemakers. A further walk to see the pasionate lovers beach, the only passion it inspires would require the help of a little blue pill which are abundant here. Dinner involved an argument with an Indian chap as it appears Vegetarianism isn't so much not understood as just ignored, upon asking for an egg and onion murtabak he just laughed, repeatedly, the cad.
Kota Bharu, Malaysia billandsarah... Long beach on Palau Perhentian Kecil (Small Island), said to be the party island. Maybe it turned into a party island later in the high season but for now it was good weather and only a few people who were looking for some relaxing times in the clear blue waters. People described this island as a place that Thailand was like 15 years ago, which means paradise. We found a shack on the beach with a great view and then hit ...
